Lakers improved on paper, but have lost some defense with Trez. Barring a LeCline, they should still be the best team in the league, might be a 2-seed if Bron rests and the additions cant hold the fort.

Agreed on the Nuggets, they're a team on the rise. I like Clippers at 3 or 4 with Dallas as the main comp. So we agree on your top 4 basically. 5 is where we differ, the Warriors have no chance, without Klay that roster is barren. If Curry returns to MVP form it still wouldn't be enough and I think hes prolly declined since then. Harden is likely the better floor raiser and has more cohesion with his teammates, Houston is still better than them. So too are the Blazers.

I would have the Blazers at 5 and losing in an epic series, the West is too stacked.

I think the Rockets have to be at least 6 but I wouldn't be surprised to see them fall behind the Jazz. I have those two at 6-7 right now.

8 is up to the Dubs, Suns and Pels. IDK where I go there

    East:
    Nets
    HEAT
    Bucks
    76ers
    Boston
    Raptors
    Hawks
    ?

As of right now, some of these teams still have trades to make.

I drop Nuggets down to 4 for not resigning Jerami Grant who was the guy who frustrates Kawhi on D in attributing to beating the Clippers. If the Lakers had him over Schröder, they wouldn't need Lebron to cover him which is very important cause playing D is their winning formula.

Suns goes up to the 5th spot with CP3 running the point if he can stay healthy.

I put the Sixers up a few spots like I always do due to homerism [emoji1751]

What have the Bucks done to make you believe they can make it of the East?

As things stand now, I'd say standings will be

    East
    1. Milwaukee
    2. Brooklyn
    3. Miami
    4. Boston
    5. Philadelphia
    6. Atlanta
    7. Toronto
    8. Indiana
    9. Washington
    10. Charlotte
    11. Orlando
    12. Detroit
    13. Chicago
    14. New York
    15. Cleveland

    West
    1. Los Angeles Lakers
    2. Los Angeles Clippers
    3. Denver
    4. Dallas
    5. Portland
    6. Phoenix
    7. Houston
    8. Utah
    9. New Orleans
    10. Minnesota
    11. Golden State
    12. Memphis
    13. San Antonio
    14. Sacramento
    15. OKC

In the East, I think Milwaukee will have the best record in the league for the third year in a row. I think Brooklyn will be their biggest competition in the standings, but we haven't yet seen KD play coming off his injury and Kyrie has missed significant time to injury in four of the past five seasons. Injury and durability questions remain so the Nets are not guaranteed to be title contenders, they have a lot to prove this year. I expect them to be very good, but I have to see them play before I pick them to make a deep postseason run. Miami, Boston, and Philadelphia are the other "title contenders" in the East because no one else stands a chance. Miami beat Milwaukee rather easily and Boston swept Philadelphia last year, but both of those teams are better than the teams that got beat last year. I have Atlanta at #6 ahead of both Toronto and Indiana because I think they'll be the most improved team in the league next year. They already had a really solid and improving young core of Young, Collins, Hunter, and Capella, so I see them really coming together with the additions they've made. I also think Toronto will take a step back with the losses of Ibaka and Gasol, and Indiana will still be around but continue to lag behind the true contenders in the conference. I think Beal will try his best to carry Washington and Ball/Hayward will make Charlotte better, but both will end up short of the playoffs. When we get to the bottom of the East, these are just bad teams. Orlando has stuck with the same players for a long time and they never win. Detroit and Chicago are going through massive years-long rebuilds, while the Knicks and Cavs are just painful to watch.

In the West I think most people will disagree with my belief that Golden State will finish #11, but with Thompson out for the year they really don't have any shooting outside of Curry. I think they are going to have a lot of trouble spacing the floor and I don't see anyone on the roster other than Curry playing at an All-Star level. I think Wiseman is going to be promising and Curry is going to put up big numbers, but this isn't one of those elite Warriors teams who are filled with shooters who can defend. This organization is still trying to transition after the departure of KD and they still haven't had the original trio, Steph/Klay/Dray, share the floor since.

Outside of Golden State, the top contenders in the West will be the usual suspects. The Lakers are going to enter the season as title favorites. The Clippers will be roaring back with a chip on their shoulder after how they ended things last year, and Denver will be looking to take the next step forward after reaching the Conference Finals. I think Dallas is the last of the "true contenders" because Doncic is a truly great player and will be even better next season. As for the rest of the pack, Portland is always around as long as they have Dame, and I have Phoenix ahead of Houston because I think the Rockets are imploding. James Harden is going to start the season with the Rockets and I expect he'll be a Rocket by the end of the season. They'll have to trade him eventually, but don't expect it to be soon. Because of that I think the Rockets are going to slide in the standings but remain a playoff team because Harden will be putting up 40+ points a night. Utah takes the last spot over Zion's Pelicans because they have more established talent, and Minnesota's defense will cost them a chance to make into the top 8 even though I think they will be in the hunt for one of the last playoff spots. The teams beneath Golden State will be the "bottom feeders" in the West. That's not to say all of those teams are lost causes, Memphis and San Antonio specifically have building blocks for the future, they just won't do anything this year. OKC is probably going to be the worst team in the NBA because they are just starting their own rebuild. The Kings are the real disaster of the Western Conference and I don't think it's going to get better anytime soon. I have a suspicion they drafted Fox's replacement in the draft even though he just signed a 5-year max contract. I think it's very possible he won't be a King three seasons from now, and they'll still be at or near the bottom of the standings in the West. They are the Western Knicks and I don't think it will change anytime soon.

I'm not going to pick the playoffs, but I will list the five teams I think are most likely to win it all next year, in order.

    1. Lakers
    2. Clippers
    3. Bucks
    4. Nets
    5. Mavericks

I think top talent wins out in the end, and these teams have it.
