Wow, I was about to post the idea of this 2 secs ago. Payton works because you can bring him off the bench and if one of the others steps up, they can take the spot.

I don’t mind Payton playing or starting, he’s the only guy capable of getting Obi and Mitch involved. I’d like to see DSJ trades though so at least Quickly has a path to playing time and at least on paper provides balance to Paytons game.

Randle needs to go though because Thibs will most likely let him and Payton run the show again in the name of Ws.

My problem with Payton isn’t even with Payton himself necessarily, he’s just an awful fit for the roster and with RJ in particular. If Mitch, Randle, RJ, and Payton share the floor at the same time, we are going to have the same exact spacing issue we had last season. A PG like Payton needs to be surrounded by at least 3 shooters to be effective.

Honestly ideally Randle and Payton combine for zero minutes. Would be great if Payton just ends up the third stringer and Randle is shipped out.

Yup I’m fine with this. Force them to bench him by stepping up and outplaying him, no more excuses this is it.
