i would have rather traded Randle & 2 second rounders for someone like SChroeder or Rozier vs signing Rivers and Payton.

at least those guys are substantial upgrades and young enough to be part of the rebuild.

OKC got a 1st for Schroeder and Rozier sucks.

By that logic I’m assuming you’re thinking a rotation of:

Payton-Frank-RJ-Obi-Mitch
Rivers-Burks-Bullock-Randle-Noel
DSJ-Quickley-Iggy-Knox-Spellman

Or something like that? I actually could see Thibs doing that but if you want any spacing at all you’d have to hope Frank-RJ-Obi can each start putting up 5 threes a night at 35+%. It’s not impossible but the thing with Bullock-Rivers-Burks is they can all shoot. Can’t really say that for anyone else outside of maybe Quickley or Spellman but those two aren’t getting minutes.

Frank just has to attempt more, and also get better at playing at MSG. Frank away from home was 45% 38%, but as the season progressed he improved overall. His spits from pre and post all star game is trending in the right direction.

It really is about Frank stepping up and shooting more but also hitting his shots.

Payton doesn’t have to start, he is the lowest paid PG on the roster. Will he start we will have to see how it shakes out, it seems they want to keep RJ as a 2. I really expect Frank @ PG he played better when he started.


Regardless Rivers-Burks-Bullock alone as your second unit and can do damage against other 2nd units, also minutes are staggered so regardless once the game starts they are interchangeable on what team your playing and how you deploy them.

I guarantee you Austin Rivers starts at PG. He is the most experienced and was a heavy rotation player with Houston. He has played in the playoffs most of his career. Payton was just an insurance plan.

He will get 30 minutes per just like Knox did as a rookie but off the bench. He also has better talent around him and much better coaching than Knox had.

People are overlooking the impact Woody will have on this team on offense. He had everybody in position to shoot well on that 54 win team. Kidd and Chandler were just washed by then.

Woody's offense and Thibs defense this team will be 8-10th seed and play in the new pre-playoff tournament. That should be exciting!

Sorry Knicks fans but I think Leon Rose gave Thibs enough talent where there won't be any tanking.

PG this days are required more to keep perimeter defense honest and run pick and roll if only dsjr could shoot and not have a pot belly.

Lmao how people have Burks starting when he hasn’t started since his 2nd year. He is a bonafide off the bench player only, he isn’t good enough to stay as a starter.

Bullock, Burks and Rivers are all bench players not starters. I wouldn’t be stupid enough to even entertain that thought.

Not really relevant; Most of our team is not a starter on a decent team.
