2020 Offseason & Free Agency Thread

With the draft now over, the Knicks will turn their attention to free agency which officially begins tomorrow.

Today at 3pm is when they will need to make decisions on all players with team options.

Basically they declined everyone and are letting Dotson walk, which isn’t a surprise.

Will be interesting to see how they build the roster. All that remains are:

Mitch
RJ
Toppin
Frank
Randle
Knox
DSJ
Bullock
Quickley (if he makes it...not entirely sold)

Six spots left to fill and over $40 million in cap space. Also, I would think they would trade Randle after drafting Obi and what happens with Frank, Knox and DSJ is anyone’s guess.

Finding a starting wing and a starting PG should be the priorities even if they are stopgaps until next offseason.

The Knicks declined team option on Bobby Portis ($15.7M) and waived Taj Gibson ($10.29M) and Elfrid Payton ($8M), sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. Frees up salary space for New York.

There aren’t that many teams with cap space either. If I were them, I’d make a run at Bogdanovic since the Kings are clearly willing to let him go and they just drafted Haliburton who can take over that role for them.

Move Randle Too. Smith is probably gone too. There are some really interesting SGs. Some nice shooters . We’re not going to be a championship contender but it’s time to build something. We have some young talent we gotta hope for if we could add bogdan and fvv or fvv and Beasley I’d be very happy
