How’s it a mistake though? His contract is guaranteed. That money is his no matter what. I’d grab it in a crap situation too.
I don’t think anyone expected it to go as bad as it did. I know on here, myself included, we had questions but overall felt it was a good move. So if he was of the same mindset, he doesn’t deserve any blame for that decision. It just didn’t work out, it happens. He still got paid.
The deal was completed today.
Officially:
Sixers out: Al Horford, Protected 2025 1st, Vasiljie Micic’s rights
Thunder out: Danny Green, Terrance Ferguson, Vincent Poirier
Sixers created a $8.2million TPE as well with this deal.

that 8.2 tpe might help pick up a solid vet to round out the roster.
on one hand, if a player is getting paid way more than his value, you take that deal and run, especially at Horfords age. Thats on the GM.
on the other hand, it might land you on a tanking, rebuilding team like OKC and at that point you have no one to blame but yourself. So I kinda agree..
In hindsight though, he probably signs that contract no matter what. Its guaranteed money that no one else was going to offer him.

I’m excited to see Horford have a bounce back year. He and George Hill will be a solid veteran presence around SGA. Who is grossly underrated.
i still cant believe OKC took Horford. utterly shocked.
