Raw, PPV, & Smackdown Discussion thread

Might as well just make it one thread. Love what I am seeing on Raw and especially Smackdown. Still think Raw should be 2 hours and yeah some of the storylines are inconsistent, nonsensical, etc but I do think 2020 has been a good year for WWE in terms of being entertaining.

Had to laugh that the WWE thinks putting Lana through a table 9 times in the last 3 months will get her over as a babyface though.

Love Drew as champ again. Reigns is killing it as Universal Champ. Zayn is great. Hurt Business is good stuff. Bray is a creative genius.

Is the whole point of putting Lana thru tables an attempted “slap in the face” to Rusev?? Idk...either way I think it’s funny. 9 times or something now?? Lol

i don't find it funny. Repetition is rarely funny. I wish Lana would no sell the crap out of the move.

you would like to see her but, you know if she did it would just be doubly worse for her.

You know at some point Nia is going to botch the move and legitimately hurt her. To me Nia is Ms. Botchamania. But I understand why Lana is taking the high road but I think we can agree there is virtually no chance she re-ups with the company after he deal ends.

I got the feeling after watching NXT Wednesday night that Rhea Ripley is on her way to the Main Roster. Do you think she could be one of the last two people on the Smackdown Women's Survivor Series team?

I appreciate Roman is the guy but they really ripped the balls off of Drew tonight with that promo Reigns cut. Not a good look if you want people to take your WWE champion seriously. I seriously hope Drew wins Sunday but I know he's not going to. Hope the match is good at least.

Roman is doing great heel work though. Its a shame they didn't turn him after he beat Undertaker at WrestleMania a couple of years ago.

Drew losing was the right call for now but how he lost does not make Roman look good at all. For a heel who prides himself on being the top star of the company, needing help from an Uso makes him look a little bit weak. Roman need to win this match clean not dirty. It would not surprise me if Drew claymores both Roman and Uso on Smackdown, to get his heat back.

I was not impressed that much with Survivor Series elimination matches.

Yeah, I am ready for a break from the Mysterio family. King Corbin got an ugly loss to Buddy Murphy do to the Mysterio interference and it got me confused as to who is the heel and face of this match. The constant interferring by the Mysterio tells me they were the heels and Corbin, who got screwed over, was the face.

It really is. Apparently the WWE thinks we, the fans, like it for some damn reason. From now on, whenever I see Buddy and the Mysterio's (sounds like a 60's band), I am switching the channel faster than a Santino's rumble elimination.

Its one of their highest rated segments so people are watching it. Don't dismiss the soap opera aspect of wrestling. There are a lot of male and female (hardcore) fans who like that type of stuff. I feel like the one thing its doing is diminishing Dominik though. It doesn't help him. Buddy can use it for an eventual heel turn by himself or rejoining Seth when he comes back. He can bring Aalyah with him as well. I always thought that's where they were going anyway until Seth requested time off.

I know AEW does soap operaish things too (for instance Cody bringing out Tazz's son on the last Dynamite) but I feel like AEW writes those scripts better than the WWE. Murphy/Mysterio stuff is so cringe-worthy.

Let's not forget the Jericho/MJF musical. The bottom line is some of these shows are entertainment. Sure, that's subjective what qualifies as such but Vince is a guy who writes to amuse one man. Himself. If he finds something interesting, he'll run with it and hope it has legs. Sometimes it works. Most of the time it doesnt but this remember they are looking for mainstream audiences not just wrestling fans.

I get it. Its cringe for sure. I was waiting for Buddy to turn heel. I expect he still will at some point and Aalyah will join him.
