The democrats seem to agree. Supporting these ridiculously misguided movements do nothing more than hurt them politically. And want to take a more "common sense" approach to their political propaganda. This is great news, and honestly even hardcore Trumpers should be happy about this. Twitter is not the will of the people. The twitter mob will not have their ego stroked.

I've never thought that these people were an actual problem but in reality the social signaling can be annoying. What started out as colleges trying to give their students more freedom and responsibility turned into a misguided attempt at dictating what words were allowed. This has been terrible for the Dems in recent years and is part of the reason for Trumps popularity. Trump was an idiot in some ways, but a lot of the baiting he did was intentional. He used it as a constant distraction to his terrible policies.

At the end of the day this social policing doesn't help get rid of racism. I think we can say that now. And it almost cost the election. Things like "defund the police" are nothing more than a political trap at this point. No more being more worried about facebook likes then about helping people. Minorities are tired of it too. People want change. They don't want to be pandered to.

The people that disagree with this? Of course. The SocDems. During a meeting many Dems called for a more "common sense approach". My favorite quote from this meeting is easily Abigail Spanberger who said "If we are classifying Tuesday as a success we will get ****ing torn apart in 2022".

She also made an excellent point about the term Socialism.

"We want to talk about funding social services, and ensuring good engagement in community policing, let's talk about what we are for. And we need to not ever use the words 'socialist' or 'socialism' ever again. Because while people think it doesn't matter, it does matter. And we lost good members because of it."

This is the common sense approach I've been pushing for, for a little over a year.

But this is excellent news. Start pushing policy that matters, and turn the social rhetoric way down. To a place where democratic politicians stop sounding like 19 year old college kids.

Of course the soc dems are pushing back, and playing the victim as they always do. AOC will blame the dems for the loss of Florida but wont take responsibility for the fact that her need for the term socialism to be accepted is a huge reason for it.

I'm ecstatic about this. Get rid of these morons in the party that represent twitter. STop going all in on movements like Defund the Police. Start trying to use common sense in your rhetoric. Act like adults.

It's been very easy for Republicans to paint a picture of Democratics being ****ing insane. And this change in direction will make that much more difficult.

Edit: This happened quite awhile ago but I've been too busy with work, reading about MLK and talking Trumpers off the ledge of anarchy.

If they’re going to use the terms, they had better explain them a whole lot better. Because socialism did cost them Florida. People who migrated there from countries like Venezuelan and Cuba hear those as real, dangerous words. Those words mean people like Maduro and Castro. Republicans use it as a generic attack on anything with a Democrat label. But they and their ancestors grew up with something entirely different and that needs to be acknowledged and countered otherwise it will continue to result in electoral defeat.

I think it's ridiculous to try to blame the left side of the party for social signaling and identity politics. People like Hillary were much more of a champion of that stuff then Bernie ever was.

I was thinking the other day how Me Too seems to have died down a bit. Wonder how much of that has to do with Joe Biden? A lot of Dems kinda had to abandon that for a period of time, at least with regards to him. "Believe women" became "believe some women".

Nope. Republicans will do whatever they want to do and we can’t prevent that. But we can do a better job of countering the narrative and expanding on what we are and what we stand for.

The Democratic Party isn’t a socialist or communist party so I don’t want them fighting that battle. The policies that even the further left wants are let socialist. So I don’t know why we would put any effort into fighting to defend a label that doesn’t represent the party or it’s policies.

Why? Why should we care about a term. The democrats are for social programs to help people. They want to pass laws that create a social safety net, and help struggling families.

Why does a term have to be attached to make this work? When all it does is cost votes, and make Republican propaganda more effective.

And I'm sorry but Defund the Police is a moronic movement, that doesn't poll with just about anyone. Most people hear that and immediately shake their head. It polls at 24% nationwide. If you want to spend the next 2 years fighting Republican propaganda to get a movement lead by idealist that have no political strategy... Then go ahead. I don't. Because we will probably not have the senate, and they will swat these policies down like flies and gain popularity because of it.

I want results. I want to reform the justice system to stop imprisoning people for no violent crime. I want better police accountability, and communication.

I want laws to be passed. Not to tickle the taint of socialists. People want a better form of capitalism. Not a full transition to china. And Democratic socialism is a redundancy. Why does the term socialist need to be added to it? If you want a system like Finland and not China, then why does it have to be connected to this party?

I don't know if you've notice 2 things about Republican voters. They are a lot of times uneducated and don't trust government. So good luck educating someone who doesn't trust you.

No the plan is to stop using the language of 20 year old college students. Don't condemn your own senator for a sexual assault allegation. You look really stupid years later when it turns out she's full of ****, and you lost a huge asset to your party.

The plan is tone down the rhetoric. Don't align yourself with irrational college students. Don't be part of the reactionary voices. Be the adults in the room. Don't nod your heads with moody kids that just left their teens.

Stop ****ing Pandering. It's so phony. Be a party that everyone can feel a part of. Because the pandering is gross, and guess what? Trump gained with minorities... They don't like the pandering either.

And on a personal note. These upper middle class kids that try to speak for every minority like them are full of ****. I've worked in warehousing and live in poor areas for most of my adult life till recently. 90% of my coworks are samoan, black, and latin. While I grew up in a middle class house in a suburban neighborhood. These are not the same people. They are not an accurate representation of how every person of the same color feels. Identity politics are a failure and have done nothing but given Republicans fodder.

I have no problem with new ideas. But the Soc dems like AOC are ****ing stupid. I'm sorry. They don't understand political strategy. They come off as wanting to take over the party and have no interest in working with democrats. They attack moderate volatile seats. They are economically illiterate and talk about the tax rate being 90% in the 60's. Which 1. Is void of context and 2. Is another terrible point that only hurts us and gains applause breaks from Uber liberals.

I like Bernie still even though I do not align with him on policy. But Bernie didn't actively campaign against his own party besides while he was running in the primaries. He had his opinions but he was usually on board with the left.

These false equivalencies have to stop. THis BS propaganda coming for far left commentators needs to stop. I agree that Socialism isn't the naughty word that people try to pretend it is. But government is not the place to be making that change. The democrats job is to change peoples lives through policy. Not try to educate them.

But at the end of the day if you are actively pushing against the party. You are hurting them with your own rhetoric. You don't follow the strategy, and you say **** that is utterly stupid. OH and kill your own bills...

Then why should we let these people stay? They are leaches. They had visions of a revolution.. And it didn't happen. They think they run the democratic party even after Bernie got destroyed in the primaries. I'm already done with them. After AOC *****es about losing florida then refuses to remove socialism from her title? The soc dems want to double down.

OH and she talks about Obama like he was the greatest president ever? Like are you really just a twitter girl as a rep? You know Obama is not a socialist right? He has an aggressive foreign policy, and isn't an isolationist. He's pro free market economy. Is it really just another social signal? Is it just about getting people to see how not racist you are?
