I'll tell you what.... Fertita would love a GM like Hinkie right about now to save him money and lead the tank if that's the way they're heading.

He'd find a way to flip every somewhat useful player and take on bad contracts just for a chance at a late 1st.

I believe Russell Westbrook will start next with the Houston Rockets. They are not going to give him away but teams are only looking to buy low on him. Because of that I think Houston will elect to wait for better offers, either trading him during the season or next summer (or whenever next offseason happens). As to where he would go, I think what most people probably think and that's the Knicks.

Having said that, I think Westbrook is a good fit for the Knicks, but I don't think the Knicks would be a good fit for Westbrook. He'd be in the same city as Kevin Durant, but on the losing team. I imagine he would get contentious with the media when they aren't as successful as they'd be hyped up to be. I do not believe a Russell Westbrook-led Knicks team, with no other All Stars, would be as competitive as any of the top 6 teams in the East (MIL, MIA, BOS, PHI, IND, BRN). That means the Knicks would be the #7, or even #8 team, in the Eastern Conference, making them .500 team or only slightly better at best.

I think the package to get Westbrook would be

Knicks get-Westbrook, House

Rockets get-Randle, DSJ, Knox, Ellington, and 2021 1st round pick

That would leave the Knicks with Barrett, Robinson and other future 1st rounders as either building blocks or trade assets.

Tilman Fertitta took over a team that won 65 games and came one win away from a likely championship and within two years forced an atrocious trade for one of the league's worst contracts, forced the coach out, forced the GM of 13 years to switch teams and somehow got the atrocious player he traded for to demand a trade.

If you were trying to build a resume as the worst owner in all of professional sports, that's one hell of an amazing start. At this point it's only a matter of time before Harden demands a trade (if he hasn't done so privately already).
