Confirms our comments that he is likely crazy

He's a solid game manager who can make some good throws. He's always injured.

    Right now your FAs
Lamar- He won't be a Jet
Daniel Jones- No thanks and he will be a Giant.
Mayfield- I always liked him. He is a hard worker. He plays hard. Good leader. He can make good throws.
    Jimmy G- We know
Sam Darnold- It would be weird but and he's not all that different, statistically, from ZW. He's a harder worker and a tougher guy but his accuracy is still suspect.
    Mason Rudolph- No thanks
Gardner Minshew- Interesting. Played well for Hackett in one season. Good arm. Hard worker. Good leader
Jacoby Brissett- Not a horrible option but certainly not sexy.
Chad Henne- Interesting. He played well for KC when needed. Is he a guy they might lose at because he's older and they think he could help ZW?

There is a long list but other names get less appealing.

I honestly think in a realistic, good for the team sense, taking all aspects into consideration

    Carr (If he's released)
    Mayfield
    Minshew
    Brissett
    Jimmy G
    Henne

    Would probably be my order
In the scenario where we get Mayfield or Minchew i would want to bring White back too and have an open competition for the job

The other question you have to ask yourself is are the Jets on an upward trend, or was last year a false pretense for part of the season. If you look at who they defeated, their wins came against teams picking/original pick at #1, #5, #15, #17, and #27. Miami doesn't have a first round pick. So most of their victories were against below average teams.

With that being said, you lost games by the following numbers with very sub-par QB play across the board:

    5 points to New England
    7 points to New England
    5 points to Minnesota
    8 points to Buffalo
    3 points to Detroit
    5 points to Miami

If you put even Derek Carr or Daniel Jones on the NY Jets last year, the NY Jets are easily an 11 or 12 win team.
If Mike White was the starter all year and stayed healthy I think we also get there

Agreed. I would like them to keep him no matter who they sign.

Agreed. But this is my concern with him. I love his toughness but a human can only take so much punishment. The hits he took in Buffalo were absolute, gorgeous artistry but the defense but, oh so very, ugly from a Jets fan perspective.
He's got the arm. He's got the locker room. He's got the mentality.
I just don't think he will ever play a full season. The question is, is it a 14-15 game season or a 5-6 game one?

100% agreement with this. He is a ticking time bomb for injuries, due to his lack of mobility, etc. I can't see the Jets offering him enough money to stay, when there are so many other teams in need of a QB who might offer more.

    Agreed.
The question is, does that make ZW the backup or do they sign another guy and keep him third string. I really hope they keep him scout team and the third QB in the depth chart.

For some reason and idk why but Iím starting to warm up on the idea of Mayfield as an all else failed, so why not option.

Heís 27, he has more playoff appearances and wins than Carr. His stats compared to Carr with only playing half the time are somewhat close and within 5% and their per game stats are nearly identical with Baker edging him out in several cats. The only real ding is the higher interceptions. Now, we could point out a bunch reasons but I havenít watched enough of him or the browns to place blame on any specific thing. Maybe it is all on Mayfield but the Browns for the past several years have had a top 3 pick in the draft, so the team overall just hasnít been any good during his tenure there.

Browns fans are very similar to jets fans in regards to having experienced decades of pain and misery, so Mayfield is used to that. The weather in Cleveland can be brutal and itís obviously no picnic in NY, so heís used to that. Heís played through several injuries and poor olines, so we know heís tough. He also dealt with a lot of criticism from OBJ, fans, the browns FO, his own team, etc. so he can handle that and he definitely has a chip on his shoulder with something to prove.

With the right offense and team surrounding him, he could be very serviceable for what the jets need. And being so young, there is still a chance for big upside as he has shown flashes. But jets would seriously need to shore up that oline for him or whoever we end up getting. Again, it feels crazy Iím even saying it but as a plan Z option, I donít think heíd be that bad and heíd more than likely come very cheap. Obviously fans will ***** and moan and Iím sure several pundits will have **** to say about it but worst case, you keep building around him and then in 2 years you go hard for a franchise QB again.

I think ZW is the backup no matter how anyone feels about him. In the case of a Rogers trade, Rogers seems to like Zach and might be more willing to teach him than he was with Jordan Love. Zach would have nothing to say about it since Rogers is a HOF QB, who would play for 2 years. If we trade for Carr, he should feel similar, but might be looking to get out since Carr would probably be signed for 5 years. Jimmy G, hard to tell because he's often injured and there's probably going to be occasions that ZW gets starts. Anyone else, ZW will either feel he has a competitive shot or be annoyed and I don't know how the chemestry would be.

I'm OK with Baker, as long as we look at him like we are taking a flyer on him, like he is similar to Minschew or Trubinsky and not Carr or Jimmy G. in that regard, I'd like to see a similar contract to what we would pay Mike White, maybe $10 million or a 2 year contract. If someone else offers him $20 million - $30 million, then good luck

Baker Mayfield screams winning 8 games and missing the playoffs imo. I know he was hurt in 2021 and played with 2 bad teams in 2022 but he's another guy who misses a ton of throws, turns the ball over far too much, etc.

Same thing could be said for Carr. Mayfield had an 11-5 season in 2020. Carr had 1 season at 12-3 in 2016. And didn't have a 10 win season until 2021. And he's only had 1 8-8 season. The rest of the seasons have been abysmal record wise.

So since you don't think where going to get Carr, who do you want to start as QB next year?

To be fair to Carr, he's had 6 different HC in the last 9 years and he's played with a bunch of bad defenses and running games.

Not to mention his individual numbers are significantly better than Mayfield. Not that it matters because Carr is most likely headed to the Saints.

I am super curious to see if he forces the Raiders to cut him. I think he has more and better options if he's a free agent. The way the Raiders handled him, I could see him wanting to force them to release him and take away draft picks from them

Of course he is, why hurt his new team unless itís something ridiculous like a conditional 6th rounder
