In the case of a decent backup QB, I'd rather be proactive and give 1 of the 2 5th round picks or 1 of the 3 6th round picks to get the guy we want.

Otherwise, if we wait, it's a crapshoot and not necessarily one we may like.

Either way, the Jets cannot go into the season with Mike White and James Morgan as the top backups.

    How Jets would it be....
If Morgan considerably outplays Wilson in camp and preseason.

Sounds good to me. The OL needs more depth.

    Moses becomes the RT.
    Fant becomes the RG.

Jets have Feeney, Edoga and Clark as depth.

    Van Roten is released.

And most likely a move like this would mean Crowder is definitely on his way out too.
As Moses only makes a couple million less than Crowder next year.

    Release/trade: Van Roten and Crowder
    Gain: Morgan Moses
Net: about -$5m off the books, allowing more available money under the cap.

Jets currently have the 3rd most available cap in the league.
As of now, going into next year the Jets have the 4th most cap available.

We are also 1 of the youngest teams in the league, if not the youngest.

I think we should trade Crowder. One writer said we could trade him for a decent CB.

I know I can only speak for myself, but is anyone else semi concerned about the secondary, more specifically the CB's? Right now are CB's are Bless Austin, Bryce Hall, Corey Ballentine, Javelin Guidry, Brandon Echols, Lamar Jackson, Justin Hardee, Zane Lewis, Jason Pinnock, Isaiah Dunn, Brendon White, and Michael Carter II.

IMO, this is eerily similar to the one season under Rex Ryan and John Idzik where Idzik didn't do much for the CB's and we were starting the likes of Darrin Walls, Kyle Wilson, Antonio Allen (converted from safety), Phillip Adams, Ellis Lankster and teams were destroying us through the air each game. I could see the same thing happening this year, unless Saleh gets a ton out of this group.

Austin and Bryce hall are far better than darrin walls and Kyle Wilson.

But yea we need a solid vet in there.

With how injuries killed us last year Id rather keep him. No need to trade away weapons a rookie QB needs.
