No one who just spent billions of dollars on a baseball team would have let BVW anywhere near it to run things. Stevie pretty much made that clear when he came in and immediately hired Sandy. Otherwise, BVW would still be here mucking things up by going "muck, muck, muck!"

    But he's gone now. Yay.
That's true but we heard a lot about Sandy's presence being a big part in the legitimization of the sale. That bringing him along made it easier to swallow that Cohen had been involved in illegal activity before purchasing the team. I don't know how much sway that had but it was definitely a factor in him being brought back.

You're right. I can't see a lot of scenarios where Brodie would have been able to save his job. All I'm saying is that it wasn't a guarantee depending on who was brought in. These were difficult circumstances. The Mets were expected to win right away when Brodie came here and didn't have the resources to make a serious push. Its hard to hold all of it against him.

Yeah. Sandy was a good choice. Theo would have been fine too. But as you astutely pointed out, Sandy was already familiar with the org.

I'm curious now to see whether Rojas remains as manager.

Rojas has a vote of confidence from Alderson. The only think Alderson did say on the press conference was that he spoke with Luis and said that Luis is his man but that he would leave that final decision up to the yet to be named GM.

But, given that the GM will be reporting directly or 2 steps from Alderson, I am sure Alderson's recommendation to keep Rojas as manager will be heavily weighted.

    I’d put it at 95%.

And Rojas seems to have a lot of backing from players.

Hopefully they announce who they will hire to run the baseball operations soon and a GM not that later after.

Wondering how much power the GM will have considering he has two guys to report to. Before the GM reported straight to ownership, so we will see.

It’s all up in the air at this point but the GM/PBO have become a dynamic in most teams.

I wouldn’t be surprised if John Ricco was brought back as president of baseball ops but I would prefer we go with a new face.

If I had to guess, the Mets are going to try and pry away Billy Owens from the A’s or Antonetti/Chernoff for the president of baseball operations...probably somebody like Bobby Heck or Scott Sharp for GM. Would love Stearns or Epstein but I’m not sure that’s possible because they’re under contract. ****, trade for Epstein and Kris Bryant lol.

Nvm. He plans on stepping away from baseball for a while.

    Carry on.

When the mets were interviewing GMs the last time I wanted the Asian lady, who’s name I clearly forgot, but she was just hired by another team. So, I now have no idea.

    Kim Ng is her name.

If Cohen were an outsider and just bought the team for the sake of "hey i own a baseball team", then BVW's chances would have been better (not 100%) of staying. But anyone in their right mind is not going to keep a GM who never had any FO experience. Had BVW been through the FO for years, like Kim Ng, then I could see him being kept.

I have nothing against BVW himself, just that he had no business being a GM with no FO experience at all.
