So I guess John wouldn’t vote to confirm Donald Trump to any position of authority.

Who put the weasel in the coop?

Hmmm. Bernie is voting against Biden's nominee for agriculture secretary, Tom Vilsack. Biden still got him approved.

Bernie's statement " I opposed his confirmation today because, at a time when corporate consolidation of agriculture is rampant and family farms are being decimated, we need a secretary who is prepared to vigorously take on corporate power in the industry," Sanders explained. " I heard from many family farmers in Vermont and around the country who feel that is not what Tom did when he last served in this job" Common Dreams

"Food & Water Watch executive director Wenonah Hauter "In his previous stint at USDA, Vilsack backed mass corporate consolidation of our food system at the expense of struggling family farmers. Similarly, he readily advanced industry-driven initiatives allowing companies to inspect their own poultry processing plants, dismantling federal oversight of food and worker safety"

Ahhh, The Boys are Back in Town. Biden and the moderate keeps putting the weasels in the chicken coop. I swear our USDA policies seem to have been written by the very same industry that it should be watchdogging.

A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.

The Democratic party nominated a moderate and the American people elected a moderate. This isn't news to you or anyone else. Right?

AOC is a horrible ***** though. This is something Biden should have not carried over from the Trump administration. It's not good optics when he was campaigning on being a president who would find a path to citizenship for so many undocumented immigrants.

I think a large percentage of Americans would like to see USDA do their job and not cater to (or be easy) those they should be watching. Otherwise, what is the purpose of having a watchdog agency? Right? Just call it "What can we do for you, Mr. Industrialist Agency"?

This guy supported policies that created the environment where poultry workers suffered the most from this pandemic. Do we think most Americans would approve of this? Or big corp cornering the food market?

Please don't act like all democrats voted Biden in because of his moderate background or his moderate policies, but the one most likely to beat Trump. A lot of people held their noses voting for him because of his nack for this kind of crap.

How about making the Government actually do its job? Is that such a bewildering notion?

What could've been. We're a year removed for the Nevada primary and basically the last time I had actual/real hope (well, as much as one can knowing the makeup of our two terrible political parties). The beginning of 2020 was honestly an exciting time and holy **** did it ALL GO WRONG!!!

Vilsack is a bad pick. And while Tanden isn't getting confirmed for mostly all the wrong reason...I'll take it! She represents the rot of the Democratic Party as much as most anyone, and it's not because she knows Ted Cruz is a vampire. Or honestly because she drinks too much wine fired off too many 2am tweets...which is not a good look but also the attacks on her for her rudeness is clearly all in bad faith from anyone who fell in line and coddled Trump for 4 years. But hey, nothing goes better than hypocrisy and American conservatism. Sitewolf, take a deep breath!

Really, if you are a democrat, you should be worry when the republican support your party nominee. DANGER WILL ROBINSON! DANGER! Nothing good comes from it.

You can smell donor money all over these policies and appointments. Industry self-inspecting themselves. Come on now, when has that ever worked out well.

Are you saying that he will be directing the USDA to do things that aren't approved by law?

Why are you asking such strange questions? Who said he was breaking any laws. He, with Biden's blessing, is corrupting the spirit of our regulatory agencies. If you are an independent governmental regulatory agency in charge of industry, why would you allow that industry to regulate itself? By allowing them to self-inspecting?

And being a regulatory agency working in the best interset of the American public, why would they encourage a private industry to gain a monopoly of our food source? How is that in our best interest or the small farmers?

Are self inspecting policies extended to environmental issues with mass chicken and pig farms? How about the abuse of these industries to their workers?

You knew these progressive issues weren't going to lie still when Biden got elected. Yup, keep thinking you got 2024 in the bag.

Jon Thune accidentally making the argument for a $15 minimum wage. Depending on when he did this work, he was earning today’s equivalent of $15-$30 an hour.
