Sox Land Lance Lynn From Rangers

Just saw that the Sox traded for Lance Lynn last night. Dave Dunning was mentioned as at least one of the guys traded. Don't know if there are more involved. If it isn't one of their top guys, this is a solid move. The guy is a good middle to top of the order starter who had a solid season last year and was one of three guys I had hoped they might bring in in the off season. Don't know what his salary is but so far so good with the move.

Not me. I think that Cease should be a quick fix as I see his delivery. Its his stride and release point that is his problem. IF he listens to the new pitching coach, he should be pretty good. His stuff is terrific as is Lopez's. You have to give up something to get a winner like Lynn and Dunning rated out I think to be about their 7th or so best young arm.

Is lynn our number 1? That may change going forward and Giolito is still ascending. Sox will still say he's their number 1, but that's not what I'm talking about.

Yeah I look at Dunning and Cease as a 50/50 situation. Dunning is the more likely to be steady and consistent, but Cease has elite top of the rotation upside. Patience is key with pitchers. Remember it was only 2 years ago that we could go back and see half the people in here writing off Giolito. And by all accounts Giolito's 23 year old season was worse than Cease's. If not worse, pretty damn close.

Maybe regular season but I probably trust Giolito and Lynn in game 1 and 2 of a 3 or 5 game series

I like the move. I hate to lose Dunning,but, that is what contending teams do. I still think another vet starter like James Paxton or Jake Odorizzi and then get Hendricks for the back end....
