Minus a 2-3 month stress, Bell has been a remarkable OK player. I don’t know that the Nats are a much improved club with his addition.

It’s probably a big improvement over what they had at first base but you’re right. Bell had a few months in 2019 where he was on fire but other than that he’s been pretty average. Although he has been really the only hitter in the Pirates lineup that was any bit of a threat. He might be much better hitting around guys like Soto and Turner.

The Padres are going all-in - they acquired Blake Snell via trade yesterday and Yu Darvish via trade today.

Charlie Culberson's time with the Braves appears to be done. The Rangers have signed him to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training:

Mets got Lindor and Carrasco. This division is getting interesting. And it has some of the games top players...

    Harper
    DeGrom
    Lindor
    Alonso
    Acuna
    Albies
    Freeman
    Soto
    Strasburg

ATL really needs to keep a top bat behind Freeman. I hope there is a plan in place.

If we keep Ozuna, we are still the team to beat in the East, but the Mets are coming in fast, when Thor is healthy we might face Degrom-Carrasco-Thor on a 3 game series, that's no easy task. The Phillies are the only team that is falling off in my opinion, they never took the next step.

    DeGrom v Soroka
    Carrasco v Fried
    Thor v Morton
    Stroman v Anderson

I am certainly not saying I would choose ATLs rotation, but that could be a fun 4 game series...

Nats signed Kyle Schwarber. Bowden tweeted they plan to play him in LF if there is no DH.

Their lineup is getting a little scary. Soto, Turner, Bell, Schwarber, Robles, and Kieboom.

Obviously Turner and Soto are the real deal. Beyond that though...

Kieboom has proved nothing. Robles has not yet been a good hitter. Aside from one 3 month stretch, Bell hasn’t been better than solid. Schwarber is a power only bat. I wouldn’t say that lineup is “scary”.

Thoughts in ATL going cheaper and signing a Puig/Pederson platoon for LF?

ATL already showed interest in Puig last season and Pederson would be a great platoon partner for him.

I won’t say this would be the route I choose, but it may be something I could live with.

Well I did say a little lol but my thinking is Kieboom was a top prospect so there is a lot of upside there if he figures it out. Same with Robles. Schwarber is power only but that’s a lot of power waiting behind Turner and Soto. Bell I mostly agree with you but you have to take into account that Bell was basically surrounded by terrible hitters in Pittsburgh. I don’t know where they’ll bat him but if he’s around Turner/Soto you would think he’ll see better pitches and have more opportunities to drive in runs. Bell has the potential to be a really good hitter and we’ve seen flashes of it. Potential for 6 hitters to above average.
