It sounds like he was unlikely to make the Braves' big-league roster, realized it and decided to opt-out to go find an MLB job elsewhere.

His control was all over the place during ST. He only allowed 1 run but in 8 1/3 innings he gave up 7 hits and 6 walks.

Lamb and Kipnis were released. Ervin DFA'd. Contreras and Camargo were optioned. Right now the bench is Sandoval, Adrianza, Jackson, and Inciarte. That's a pretty underwhelming bench.

The most alarming thing to me there is that Sandoval beat out Camargo and Lamb. Camargo and Lamb must have really looked bad for Sandoval to win a roster spot over them; I imagine that Sandoval can still hit a little bit but what are the chances that he can even play passable defense at 3B and 1B at this point?

Sandoval had a great spring training while Lamb struggle offensively and defensively, Camargo well, is just good for defense at third base. Sandoval probably won't show much power but can still handle the bat very well. I'm ok with the decision.

I just hope that Pablo can play passable defense, as that is my big concern with him. This team needs to stay relatively injury-free in the worst way.

Jason Kipnis resigned to a minor league deal.

Todd Frazier and Rougned Odor were recently let go. Frazier had a solid spring but probably doesn't have much left. Odor might make some sense. Ron Washington was his manager as a rookie and he's 1 year removed from hitting 30 homers. His all or nothing approach may not make him an ideal pinch hitter but it's not like the other options available are much better. He does own a career .461 SLG/.748 OPS against right handers and he's only 27.

Sorokoa pitched 2 innings in todays game

Soroka got into the Braves' final game of spring training at Fort Myers, Florida, taking over in the bottom of the sixth with Atlanta leading the Boston Red Sox 4-2.

The 23-year-old right-hander made it through his first inning of work without giving up a run. The Red Sox put two aboard with a hit and a walk, but Soroka had two strikeouts, including Chris Herrmann swinging to end the threat.

Jarren Duran led off the next inning by homering to right field to bring the Red Sox to 5-3. Soroka issued another walk and again had to deal with two runners aboard after Johan Camargo's throwing error.

But Soroka closed out the seven-inning game by getting Jeter Downs to hit into a double play, earning a save.
