I'm sure this discussion has been around for a while, but with the DH having been a success in the NL during this short season, perhaps its time to bring it back up.
I am pretty much an "old-school" baseball fan, but I can see the merits of having the universal DH. Most pitchers have not hit since high school and to ask a young player to swing a bat, facing a 95 MPH+ fastball or a nasty breaking pitch is simply not really fair to them.
Let pitchers concentrate on pitching and hitters on hitting. Some good hitting pitchers could serve as their team's DH occasionally, but those who can't hit should not be forced to do so.
I think that, if baseball agrees to expand the major league roster to 26 or 27 players, the MLBPA would go along with this.
