Rondo don't even think about it
CP3 > Rondo
CP3 never played with Garnett, Pierce, Allen. Or a team with LeBron and AD. Elevating your play during the playoffs is a lot easier to do when you are on teams with two to three future HOF players!
DeMar Derozan, I think would be an easy get if he decides to opt out and be a UFA. SAS will need some serious re-tooling. I definitely dont see him and LMA as part of their future plans. 31yo, LA native. I see him as someone who'd give up money to win a title.
-A low-key scoring specialist (53% FG) who can create his own shot
-Could embrace an Iggy/Lou type of role off the bench
-Constant 16-20ppg threat but is also capable of absorbing the defense and dish out to the perimeter
As I understand our current cap situation:
1. Lakers can go over the cap to resign both KCP/Rondo
2. Lakers have two exceptions available:
-BAE could be used for Dwight Howard
-MLE could be split between DD and Keef (tbh he actually played pretty well except for that one error)
3. Pretty sure the Lakers can convince DMC to sign for the vets min (1yr prove it deal)
4. Klutch clients on the market who can be had for the vets min (Waiters/Noel/Trier)
Assuming that Kyle Kuzma gets traded along with pick #28 + fillers (say DG/McGee/Cook), and gets NOTHING in return we'd still have this roster:
Howard/Noel (DMC)
Davis/Morris
LBJ/Derozan (Kostas)
KCP/Waiters (THT)
Bradley/Caruso (Rondo)
CP3 had his chances and had played with really solid stars. He is injury prone. Rondo might not be as good as him, but knows his to play when it counts the most, play offs time! Play off Rondo! We need a younger pg and a better bench. He will only come if he opt out if his inflated deal.

Derrick Rose an option for Lakers?
Now, with the Lakers in a much different position, coming off a championship and measuring what it will take to remain a contender as other teams around the league improve, Rose is again a focal point. And with some pressure to act, both the Lakers and the Pistons might be pushed into finding common ground on a trade. “I think both sides were reluctant when they went into in January, February,” one general manager told Heavy.com. “I don’t think the Lakers wanted to make a major move because they thought they could do something on the buyout market. And I don’t think the Pistons wanted to make a major move because Derrick was happy there. You know, the Lakers wanted to be involved in case the Clippers got involved or someone else, the Bucks or the Nuggets, whoever. So there was interest but not too serious. Now, everything has shifted a little. Now, they’re both in a position to where a deal is much more likely now.” – via Sean Deveney @ Heavy.com
Lebron is the one!
I like Derozen
He will have to take a pay cut in order to join. He in spite of his three point shooting is a super up grade from Kuzma and Green. He is a weapon around the basket and has a very strong jump shot. He is athletic and cane defend. He can create his own shot and can create for others. Mid level player, I can see it as possible. We use Green and Kuzma for a sharp shooter at the 1 or 2. Preferably at the one to save Rondi and Lebron’s legs.
Lebron is the one!
Also, freaking Rondo improved his shooting this season dramatically. He might get motivated to improve and he knows he can play with less pressure.
Lebron is the one!
I would go with D Rose as that 3rd star to pair up with LeBron and AD
Just off the top of my head, the most I remember a player not picking up a PO to go sign with a contender is $10 million by David West. He left that in Indy to go sign with GS. You think DDR would walk away from $27 million just to go to the Lakers? Not likely. He can wait a year and then sign for peanuts with whomever he wants.
