I'm trying to make sense of the McGee trade and what Pelinka did with Bell & McKinnie. They were both on minimum contracts, which means they don't have an impact salary wise. So we could have kept both. The problem with that, obviously, is that they would take two roster spots, leaving us with another two spots for vet mins, hopefully one of them for Markieff.

Now, they had to guarantee at least $2,342,857 of Bell's and McKinnie's contracts combined to make the trade work under the CBA rules. They chose to keep McKinnie, who will make $1,762,796. So they had to guarantee $2,342,857 - $1,762,796 = $580.061 of Bell's contract, then waived & stretched Bell over 3 seasons which means his cap hit is now $580.061 / 3 = $193,353.

But they could have also kept Bell and stretched McKinnie with the same exact result, as far as I know, since they both make the same amount $1,762,796.

Isn't that odd? I mean, I don't know a lot about this stuff, but at first glance Bell looks like a more serviceable player than McKinnie.

Our last hope for some defense at the 5... Mahinmi or Thon Maker...
We still need a backup C and these guys are available.

Who would be the best for us?

    Mahinmi plays D really well.

I was thinking the same thing.

    Why not keep Bell?

I thought they was going to keep both and make a move mid season.

I think if Morris was going to sign he would have done so already.

Yeah, can stretch the floor, can hit midrange shots, and passing ability such a great upgrade

Now if we can get Kief and add a back up C.

How about Thon Maker as a back C ? can also shoot 3s, defend, and only 23 yrs old

Seems majority on the team can shoot 3s now lol

yep only Harrell is not a strong shooter. That is the only reason i think Morris should be retained. When Davis plays center Morris ability to shoot help spread the floor. With the need to limit Lebron and Davis i think Morris or a guy like him is needed.

I guess no news is good news. Should mean that nobody is offering more than what we can offer.

It always amazes me when a player is so talented in college and is so bad in the pros.

Being below average is one thing.

    To totally suck is another.
