Hearing that Texas is going to turn down Klubers 18m option. Would you guys be interested in giving him a look on a cheap 1 yr deal as a back end starter with a huge possible upside?

Cleveland officially turned down their option on Hand so he is a Fa

I’d get Darren O’ Day for more bullie weapons to replace Zero. Braves turned down the option.

White Soxs decide to go old school with there new manager to try and get them to the next level. Tony La Russa is their new manager. I think thats an excellent choice to have an old school manager to help get this young team to the next level.

Instead of going with a no experience young type like we did with Boone in a similar stage with our team, the Soxs are going with experience. IMO they are going to be very good, very soon. They have all the right kind of young, core pieces and now the right kinda manager, they just need to acquire the last few pieces to be serious contenders

Considering how little money the yankees are considering spending this offseason to remain under the cap, i'm really shocked by this decision. If the yankees decline britton's option, then it's very possible, he opts to become a free agent, rather than do one year. In which case, the yankees save 13 million this year and the next and go after much cheaper free agents to fill holes and bigger ones to fill major needs.

I agree that i was definately wondering if they would pick up his option considering they could probably get 3 good relievers this winter for the amount he's making. I think the reason the couldn't take a chance on losing him though because he was clearly our best reliever this yr and an excellent closer option if Chapman doesn't workout or gets hurt.

I honestly don't know what picking up his option means for this off season. It could mean they aren't quite as poor as they are claiming to be or that they are going to go with the most simple options available to complete the team for next yr. I really think they have to think outside the box this winter to try and acquire the kinda players we need

Try look at it in a different way. At least this gives Yankees options because they have both Britton and Chapman. There aren't many elite name relievers out there like Britton. Yankees should be shopping Britton and Chapman can see what offers they get.

Yes many teams might be looking to shed payroll but I believe teams that think they are a contender will spend. Quite a few contending teams have holes at closer. White Sox, I think Colome is a free agent? The cheatin Stros just released Osuna. Dodgers won the WS in spite of Kanley Jansen. Padres have a question mark. Point is Britton and Chap both have value in spite of their high salary, if they can get a favorable deal like we got for Miller and Chap a few years ago, that'd be great right? If not, keep both going into the season. They can always hold both of them till the trade deadline next year and trade one to a desperate contender then.

Yankees Decline Brett Gardners option(10m), opt to buy him out(2.5m)

I would not be shocked if they re-sign him for a cheap deal of 3-5m plus the buy out.

Well atleast not choosing to pick up Gardy is a smart move. I bet we see him back on a cheaper deal and they will completely pass on a hitter type the desperately need in Brantley

Paying Britton 27M is absolutely preposterous. No wonder this team doesn't want to spend any more money. Yikes.

That would make no sense , they would in essence be paying him almost as much for next season as they would have if they took his option. I mean I would be shocked if he takes less than 5 or 6 mill . If they wanted to save money with him just pay him the 2.5 mill and let him walk

It’s only a smart move if they let him walk . Because unless he takes 3 mill or less to come back . They would only be saving 3 mill
