The Dodgers are currently what the Yankees were in the late 90s early 2000s

    They got starting pitching!

Yankees have Cole and then broken down barnacles and a few kids trying to start 20 games before getting sent back to the minors and never heard from again.

Wow! What a rotation to be proud of......

I think Bauer is in for a bad season...
First.. last year was his best year.. pitching exclusively in the NL and AL Central... neither being a hotbed of hitting teams... So his numbers were depressed (well, his W-L record didn't show it.. but the ERA did)

Now he's going to the NL West... the division with the biggest ballparks....(Coors, SF, SD.. all large), but they play like band-boxes (mostly coors and Chase field)... against teams that all hit... pitching is suspect out side of the dodgers... but they all know how to hit.... this could end up being funny.

I still can't believe a guy with only 2 season, 1 of which was his 11 game season last yr, with an ERA under 4 just became the highest paid player in baseball. He's getting 40m this yr and 45m next yr. I think he's going to be in for a little shock going to the NL west since he's spent his career in the AL/NL central, the two weakest divisions in baseball. He's not even a true Ace.

look at who those 11 games last yr were against and its pretty easy to see why he had such a good stretch. 3 vs the Brewers, 2 vs the Tigers, 2 vs the Cubs, 2 vs the Pirates, 1 vs KC and 1 vs the CWS which he got shelled in. He basically pitched 1 game against a pretty good team and gave up 5 runs. Against those teams he should have pitched very well. It will be very interesting to see how he does against teams with good lineups. I would bet he has a typical yr from him with a high 3- low 4 ERA

I would have loved to have seen us get another healthy TORP but IMO we dodged a bullet with Bauer because no way in hell is he worth 4 & 9M more than Cole the next 2yrs. The Dodgers are usually an incredibly smart team but paying Bauer 85m over the next 2yrs seems crazy when they already have a stacked rotation with Buehler, Kershaw, Price, May, Urias and about 4 other pretty good young guys that can start. Their number 1 spec, Josiah Gray, is an absolute stud and is expected to be ready this yr and their #5 spec Mitch White already pitched for them in 3 games last yr.

They have more good specs/ young players than they know what to do with what, it would have made so much more sense IMO to have made a trade for Castillio, Hendricks, Snell or Darvish all who are as good or better than Bauer at a fraction of the price.

While i'm not a fan of the signing you have to give LA's ownership and management for not being satisfied with the already great team they had and went out and got the best FA starter available. The did a something very similar last yr when they made that great trade for Betts and Price. When you have a rotation so good that 2 of Dustin May, Julio Urias, both could be alot of teams 1-2 starters next yr, and Gray a top 25 spec can't make it...Wow

Sure wish Hall and Cash would take a few pointers from them and actually be willing to spend the money to get us over the top. The Dodger were over the LT tax last yr, their payroll was only 3m less than ours and they lost alot of money also but they were willing to spend to get better. Barring a bunch of serious injuries it hard not to see them being the 1st team to repeat since we did

I don't watch a lot of non-Yankees games, but Dodgers=Padres games are going to be must see games. It is just too bad that Vin Scully retired or those games would be baseball heaven.

I honestly thought Bauer would top off at ~28m per year. I never thought it possible that he would get 40+m per year. Cole seems like such a bargain.

Ranking the 10 best rotations for 2021

    4) Yankees
    Gerrit Cole, RHP
    Corey Kluber, RHP
    Jameson Taillon, RHP
    Jordan Montgomery, LHP
    Domingo Germán, RHP
    Deivi García, RHP

Prior to the Dodgers’ addition of Bauer, the Yankees ranked No. 1 in FanGraphs’ starting pitching WAR projections, at 18.1. Of course, that begins with a 5.6 WAR projection for Gerrit Cole alone, and it’s not hard to understand why anybody would be bullish on him.

The bigger question is how bullish we should be on two-time Cy Young winner Corey Kluber, two-time All-Star Luis Severino and one-time top Pirates prospect Jameson Taillon. Kluber has made just eight starts over the past two seasons and was shut down last year with a shoulder issue. Taillon is coming off his second Tommy John and didn’t pitch last year. And only a vague, “late summer” timetable has been offered on the return of Severino after his Tommy John procedure. Deivi García and Jordan Montgomery have demonstrated their potential but have yet to put it all together with consistency.

Ultimately, there’s a lot of potential here. And with one of the absolute best starters in the sport occupying 20% of the rotation, there’s a pretty high floor.

Evil, I chuckled when I read that he had signed there. I agree. I think his implosion will be a humorous one and leave the Dodgers with their proverbial, peckers in the wind.

I think this will end up being an absurd overpay.

That's what I thought he would get. I figured maybe he'd get to 30 per.

I think he is going to crack and that this is going to be a fun implosion to watch.

Lighten up Francis. There was no insult or criticism of anyone. If anyone should have had a beef it was Metswon because it was directly poking fun of him for wanting Bauer.

The deal is a bit of a sham Imo. 40m year 1, 45m year 2, 17m year three. He opts out after year 2 unless he’s been pretty awful. At least the Mets tried to disguise a little better. To say the Mets offered more misses the point. He gets 5m more first 2 years at an average of 42.5m.
Glad we didn’t sign him to be honest. I’m happy with our rotation though I still hope for a Castillo trade lol.
