I agree. Hal seems determined to stay below the 210M, with only about 6M wiggle room something has to give.

Reds GM Nick Krall on rumors of a Luis Castillo trade: "They are completely false. We intend to have him as a member of our rotation for 2021."

According to Andy Martino of SNY, Tanaka is looking for a one-year contract worth between $15-20 million.

Given who these people are, I'd say these rumors are very likely false.

    But fun to fantasize.

Hector Gomez has broken alot of stories from the Latin American market so i think he's somewhat reliable... What else is the Reds GM supposed to say, if they trade Castilio then they are giving up on next yr.. I highly doubt this deal is done but with all the noise you gotta think something is going on

Doubt Yankees want to bring him back for that.

Not sure if he will get it either, obviously possible though.

Now Martino is saying he talked to someone who would know and they said its done.. ESPN also sent out a tweet that said sources are saying the Yanks and Reds are deep into talks tonight .. so who knows. If this is all BS, someone did a hell of a job getting this rumor going...

Andy Martino? He didn't say that at all, not in his tweets at least.

Which ESPN?? I just checked their Twitter feed and it's all football.

I just got a message from my top trusted source, he says as of right now its not happening. They were close at one point but then the Reds wanted the Yanks to take back some serious money for atleast 1 other player the Yanks had no use for and would have a very hard time moving.

The Yanks view Castillio as a top 20 pitcher and believe he's only going to get better. If there was a pitcher they were willing to trade a big group of top specs for it would be for him.

He did say for the right players they will exceed the luxury tax but it would have to be extremely beneficial and Cashman has said he expects the Yanks to have the leagues highest payroll again

They are trying to move Otto and atleast part of his salary and are willing to attach a pretty good spec to get it done but they havent gotten alot of traction

the package that was discussed going to the Reds included Frazier, Schmidt and Andujar. The deal is far from dead according to him but the Yanks have to decide if they are willing to take back the player with the big contract or add 1 to 2 more high level specs that they don't want to trade, from a group of Devi, Gil, Wells and Peraza

the other thing he did say is that IF the deal went through that the Yanks would likely go cheap to replace Clint in LF likely some kind of defensive first OFer that can also play CF. They are more concerned with the rotation than the offense.

He also said players and agents of the mid tier players are starting to get concerned with the lack of a market developing. Look for players starting to take cheaper deals the close it gets to ST

this tells me that Kluber must have looked pretty good if he recieved multiple 8 figure offers. That the Rays were willing to spend that kinda money to get him they must believe that he has something serious left in the tank.

    from MLB trade rumors
Since over half the league sent scouts to watch Corey Kluber’s showcase event, it isn’t surprising that there was some significant money on offer for the veteran righty, who ended up signing with the Yankees on a one-year, $11MM deal. Several teams made eight-figure offers, according to SNY.tv’s Andy Martino, and the Yankees’ offer wasn’t the most expensive contract on the table.
Kluber drew plenty of interest from elsewhere in the AL East, as Martino writes that the Blue Jays were one of the clubs “bidding aggressively.” Speier sheds a bit more light on Kluber’s situation, noting that he “seemed most interested in a clean one-year deal” rather than a one-year contract with a 2022 option attached — a structure that would have perhaps been more appealing to the Red Sox, another team with legitimate interest in Kluber’s services.
The Rays also “made a very strong run” at Kluber, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. With Kluber now off the board, Chris Archer is still under consideration as the Rays continue to look for veteran rotation help.

Martino is saying nothing is happening.

Passen is saying stop it with the false rumors.

MLB.com is saying there is nothing to it.

Only people saying something is up are the want to be social media GMs (Twitter and YouTube), fan run websites, and these Latin baseball reporters with no credentials.

Hate to say it, but it’s a pipedream right now. Seen it the pass decade plus with the Yankees being “in,” framework is “hammered out,” and “deal should be completed shortly.” I’ve heard it all and less than twenty percent of those rumors are true. Only four that happen last decade of being on here are the Granderson, Chapman, Gray, and Stanton trades.
