Don't use me or my arguments to defend/ support your twisted version of fandom. I'm irritated because Lindor, a consensus top 15 player and the exact player we really needed to take this team to the next level and Carrasco who is still a very good #2/3 type starter, especially for 12m a yr were just traded for peanuts. A package we easily should have topped to get those guys.

DJ at say 23m and whatever starter they can get for 8m or less is not going to be better than Lindor and Carasco next yr for the same money. Even on a budget passing on those 2 for the price they were traded for was an epic mistake

By accident of birth location, or by personal choice, you, and millions like you spend time, money, and frayed nerves hoping this team can win it all. Unlike almost every other team, the hope that "this is our year" is realistic, and the reality almost every other team experiences (i.e. half empty stadiums during non pandemic times, and last place finishes is never our reality). We play meaningful baseball right to the end of the season EVERY season.

And, even if all the foregoing were no longer true, we are talking about baseball. It's a game, and if you are like me and billions of other people, baseball is more than winning championships. It is about summers playing against friends, our fathers who made the time to coach our team and show us how to throw a curveball. It is about the amazing plays we once made that convinced us (foolishly) that we could be good enough to go pro, and for me the watermelon my dad would bring to each game to celebrate our win (or our loss).

I get it. Winning the World Series is exciting and I want to see us get #28 as much as anyone else. I often wish Cashman would do something he didn't. I often wish Cashman didn't do something he did. I really was hoping we could pull off the trade the Mets just did. I admit it, I am jealous. But, we have a truck load of young, eager flamethrowers here and on the way. And one day relatively soon, we may have a Martian patrolling center field. Disagree with what the Yankees do as much as you like. We all do it. That is the point of a discussion forum, but if you are going to complain about everything that doesn't go as you like, and don't enjoy the possibilities of what may be, then I don't know why you bother being a fan. I just don't get it.

If the Yankees somehow traded Tyler Wade for Jason DeGrom, I swear all you would post is how Jason DeGrom never won a championship for the Mets so the Yankees are still a mediocre team who would have to get lucky to beat the Bad News Bears. Were you a member here in 2009? If so, I want to go back and see your posts from that year. Certainly you would have had something positive to say about a championship year, right? Then again, you probably were like "they'll never beat the Phillies" over and over and then once we won, you were probably like "sure, we won, but we'll be a mediocre team next year."

PJO34 admitted to saying so , you would know that if you bothered to actually read the following page that had his response to it . But instead you are only looking for my posts to attack me on .

And I am getting fed up with your only reading my posts and no one else’s in your apparent never ending quest to find something to attack me on . Because if you actually read my response to dayner’s response you would see what I meant by that . And it was not that I think they will be a sub .500 team this season .

I expect that they will get 1 starter, Carrasco would have been perfect, it's likely going to be Kluber or Tanaka. So to start the yr you have Cole/ Tanaka/ Kluber/ German/ Monty and whatever young pitcher that separates himself the most during ST. Sevy is already throwing breaking balls from the mound at 90% so i would expect him back a little sooner than most expect but at the latest lets say early June If the season starts in May like it has been suggested he only miss 4-6 weeks. Either way he should still be back in time to make 15-20 starts next yr. If he's anything close to what he's been thats our number 2 come playoff time

We also have a couple kids who you have spoken very highly of in Medina and Gil, who have taken massive steps forward in their development. If the recent reports are anywhere close to true both could be in the rotation by summer and could have a tremendous impact. The also could both have a massive impact in the BP also.

There are also guys like Contreras, Garcia, Schmidt, Vizcaino, Yajure and Gomez that will likely heavily impact either the rotation or BP at some point next yr

As far as the BP they still have an elite 3 arms in Chappy, Britton and Green. Cessa isn't a bad reliever either. While some here are ready to give up on Lasagna after his 1st yr in the BP i still believe enough in the talent and stuff to think he'll still be a sold middle innings guy next yr

We also have another group in Abreau, Nelson and Kriske that all appear to be tremendous relief specs and atleast 2 of the 3 will likely be big piece of our BP next yr and moving forward

Otto was bad last yr but that was a very small sample size. Relief pitchers performances are some of the most volatile of any position. You see lots of relievers have bad yrs followed by really good ones. Does that mean i expect that from him, probably not but you never know

Cashman has also said that they would like to add to the BP this winter so i expect them to pick up 1 reliever like a Bradley, Rosenthal or maybe Yates? with as cheap as reliever are this winter is really going to be a shame if they don't take advantage of it

That lineup, atleast in the regular season, will still score a ton of runs and be able to pickup for the pitching in the early part of the yr barring tons of injuries. Then again we won 100 plus games in 19 and set aa record for most players on the IL, so even with some injuries that lineup can and likely will carry us alot in the regular season

Is it a perfect plan or anything close to a guarantee, no absolutely not. Is it the rotation or BP i'm hoping for, not this yr. Is there a possibility that a handful of things with the young pitchers break our way and we get some very solid production from the kids? absolutely.

The other huge factor to consider is the rest of the competition in the AL. The CWS are pretty clearly the best team in the AL, after that who is there really? Tampa lost Morton and Snell, Cleveland is trying to go for the lowest payroll in history, Houston doesn't have Verlander and is likely to lose Springer and Brantley. Oak and Minny are contenders but certainly not dominant. Boston doesn't have a pitching staff and even if they did, they don't have a great lineup and none of those teams is looking to spend significant money

Toronto is the only AL team other than the CWS that looks dead set on improving there roster. The vast majority of talent this winter is all heading to the NL.

The Yanks really don't have to do much at all to be a likely playoff team, which is all it seems Hal and Cash are worried about this yr. By no means would i be happy or satisfied if all they did was bring back DJ and 1 of Tanaka/ Kluber. In a yr when the AL is likely going to be so weak and Hal's extreme reluctance to spend, it's likely best case with what i think likely going to happen

Interesting. If Eeyore complains and no one reads it, is he still annoying?

We'll have to leave that question to the philosophers.

sold, lets hope Gio can talk him into it. In all likely hood Cohen is going to offer him a ton of money and unless he really doesn't want to play there he'll resign with them

U said it would be interesting to see if they are a .500 team this year. That means you think there is a chance they could be a sub .500 team next yr, how is that up for argument?

It isn’t . But I never said I felt they will be a sub .500 team this year , just that there is a chance .

given they haven't had a season below .500 in 27 yrs i find it highly unlikely that they finish below .500. Even if the just bring guys back, with the lineup we have we are easily a plus .500 team in the AL East

Fired Angels employee Bubba Harkins names Cole, others he says used his illegal product

Harkins also claimed that MLB has evidence implicating several star pitchers — including Cole, Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Felix Hernandez, Corey Kluber and Adam Wainwright — for using foreign substances to improve their grip on the ball.

Cashman has been pretty clear that they plan on going after one of top SS in the 22 class so that not the real question. The real question is will Lindor test the market

If this is another one of Cashmans classic not wanting to pay twice for a player BS then he really made a bad move considering how cheap Lindor and Carrasco were. Waiting on DJ's decision is just not a good enough reason to not atleast be heavily involved, especially when the price is peanuts, i trying to have gotten this deal done for us

They say this now but then they'll sign DJ for 4-5 years. Next year they will say that DJ and Torres have the middle IF locked up for multiple years and pass on every FA SS.

5 pages and not one credible attempt at a defense of The Wunderkind.

Either no one wants to feed the troll or the Temple of Brian must indeed be crumbling.

    1) we have a PLETHORA of quality trade chips that have NO discernible path forward on this franchise and Cleveland was apparently willing to accept FAR worse than what we had the potential to offer for a very verifiable need.

    2) we DESPERATELY need a #2 AND a #3 to slot in behind Cole. Careasco would have neen a solid #3 and a questionable #2 and Brian couldn’t even get that right

    3) if Hal is toeing the line on market engagement, a trade (for which Cashman usually basks in the fawning bromides for.....what is it called by the acolytes around here again.....oh yeah......being a quote/unquote ‘ninja’) would have been the absolute way to bolster this IF and add a verifiable (there’s that nasty little word again, folks) SP to solidify this team going forward.........long term vision and all that.

    4) banking all eggs in one basket on a guy who is going to age out in years 4 and 5 of his future who represents NOTHING more than a lateral continuation of last year’s losing mentality. Nothing against DJ, but we have to get better, not keep trotting out the same losing product and philosophy, but I digress......

    5) Florial, Andujar, Tauchman, Severino have no future on this team. Sanchez can (and should) be offloaded to both rid ourselves of the over-reliance on the one dimensional, useless meatsack power hitter, and to send a message, loud and clear, that no one not named Cole or Gleyber is safe, but.....you know.....”future MVP” and all that (the ‘ninja’ clown’s exact words, not Sauron’s)

    6) an IF of DJ, Gleyber, Lindor, and Gio would have dominated for 4-5 years at least. Voit, despite his prodigious power, has proven to be expendable with his inconsistency. Dumping Voit and Gary would have done quite a bit to ease our lineup of the 4 all-or-nothing power one dimensional meatsacks I mentioned above and turned our focus to production-WITH-power as opposed to power-at-all-costs. You know.....Bernie and O’Neill vs. Sexson and Hafner but again.....I digress.

    7) 89 million coming off the books and not willing to spend a dime

24 years and still finding new and creative ways to defecate all over this once proud and regal franchise.
