I shouldn't mention this, but I don't think he'd mind. Hal has a close personal relationship with the Long Island medium. In fact she is on the payroll as an executive assistant in charge of forecasting. Philly tells me Hal channels George regularly for his opinion and approval. Lately he's been cranky and pissed off frequently. The medium often censors his language. Supposedly George, with Hank nearby, laments not keeping Hank in charge. According to my sauce, he believes "Hank had balls and understood winning is everything". Unlike "my Brooks bros., penny pinching, bean counter" other son! He has "accountants and Ivy League pencil necks" running the operation! According to George you never gonna win with that approach. You need Billy and Lou battling it out in the trenches. He closed by reminding Hal: " Winning is the most important thing in my life, after breathing,".... "Breathing first, winning next."
"A ship that sails on a calm sea gets nowhere" He implored his son to "mix things up", fire someone. The manager ain't the players friend....he's the manager! He's there to kick ***!

So they aren't very far apart on money, it's the extra yr that is creating the gap.

Apparently Justin Turner who is already 36 is asking for 4yrs80m. From their perspective according to insiders, they would rather pay a couple M more per yr to sign the 4yr younger and better all around player in DJ. If anyone doesn't think the Dodgers aren't a huge threat to steal DJ might want to think again.

The funny thing is I would be 10x more comfortable signing him to a 5yr deal as a corner infielder but I would be extremely apprehensive of the same deal if he was signed primarily as a 2nd baseman.
    Just offer 4 for 90

I would offer DJ 4 years and $100million (make it $21M in 2021 and then $26M every year in the last 3 years with a $1M bonus if the Yankees let him go when the contract ends).

with this it would leave the Yankees around $14million in 2021 to go after some SP and/or RP below the luxury tax threshold.

Maybe something like a Tanaka for $9million and a RP for $5million.

Dj is going to be 33 years old , he is not worth more than 20 mill a year . Let the guy walk and use that money elsewhere. If I was gonna spend more than 25 mill on one player it would be Bauer. Because they need him more than they need dj or lindor and would require less years than lindor

George is dead , it’s not those days anymore . Besides 21 mill a year is more than a fair offer . A 33 year old infielder is not worth more than that , especially when you would be paying him until he is 37 .

Looks like we might have our 1st good news of the winter. Sherman and Rosenstein are reporting that the Yanks are the favorites to sign Kluber because of all the connections he has to the Yanks that were his coaches when he was at the top of his game.

Let him go, all he cares about is the big contract. If he really wants to play for the Yanks he should accept their offer. Today's players have no loyalty to any team, all they care about is the almighty dollar, greedy SOB.

Look I'm absolutely against giving him the 5yr110m he's asking for but he has earned the right to ask for that kinda contract. He's made less than 35m in his 10yr career, he's never gotten his big pay day. He's given the Yanks every chance and has made it clear he will take less to play for the Yanks. U can't fault the guy for looking for 1 big contract especially considering its likely his last.

I think he makes a world of sense for the Dodgers even at 5yrs because if he signs there it will be primarily as a corner infielder and he should age much better at those positions.

It's really to bad the can't/ won't sign him to play 1st and capitalize on Voits peak value and use Voit in a trade for a TORP.

Torres goes back to the position he put up superstar numbers at and they could upgrade defensively at SS. Either by signing a Simmons or Didi for a yr then getting 1 of the premium SS available next winter or just trading for 1 of them this yr.

DJ @1st, Torres @2nd, Lindor @ SS and Gio @3rd would be about as good of an infield as there is on both sides of the ball.

And opposed to 99% of the rest of the population that never ask their employers for a raise, or leave the company they work for if they get a better offer 🤦🏻*♂️
