Gary Sanchez, the job is yours, you only have to claim it. You were the best hitter on the team at one time, work your butt off and prove it. Iíve believed in you since you were 16. And so do a lot of others. Let us see what you got sobrino, TŪo Reggie

Unless he can pitch it wonít make much difference how well he can hit . Especially since he is not a good catcher . So sad how a legend could be so blinded by hrs to see that Sanchez is not deserving to be the Yankees every day catcher .

Chris archer and foltynewicz are not torp either . The only pitcher I could see being truly worth going after in that group is Nola .
Dombrowski will extend Nola (he's there to win) and Cohen will extend Thor. Eliminate the Guys 35 and over. Now update your list.

Like I said before no torps available in the next off season . So unless sevy goes back to his 2018 self to start the 2022 season , we can forget about the Yankees competing for a ws anytime soon .

    1. Miggy has no position and we love the bat that we saw in 2018. 2018 was a long time ago. Next year he is ARB 1 and will start making money, not exactly what a rebuilding team like the reds are looking to headline this deal. And don't mention Frazier. He is ARB 1 right now. Who else do the Yankees have to headline this deal other than Dominguez?

    2. Garcia is not exactly a power pitcher and many scouts are torn on his future. Perhaps the Reds would take him as a second piece in the deal. Perhaps they won't. I personally would go with Medina and Gil if I were them. Much more upside.

Not sure why a Castillo trade to the Yankees is even being discussed , itís not like it will ever happen .

The Yu Darvish-to-the-Padres deal is on the verge of happening, sources tell ESPN. Darvish is expected to go with Victor Caratini to SD. Cubs' return is Zach Davies and four young prospects: OF Owen Caissie (18), SS Reggie Preciado (17), OF Ismael Mena (18), Yeison Santana (20).
Padres are smart. They made their move last year to a legit contender and are taking advantage of a market where teams are looking to dump payroll. They traded for Snell and Darvish while keeping 6 prospects who will be top 100 guys. This was the time for them to push all their chips in and they did.

Yankees and Mets should have been all over Darvish at the price the Padres got him for. He's making very reasonable money as well.

The Padres are moving like the Yankees back in the day. Ya know, when the Yankees used to win when it mattered.
    True.
Clevinger, Yu, Snell. (Ha!) followed by two of Davies, Paddock, Lamet? Damn.

Padres are making the Yanks look like they don't care about getting better. The sad part is that even if the Yankees sign DJ, they didn't get better. They stayed the same and that wasn't good enough to win last year or the year before or etc...

I do agree with OhSoslick about Snell. I think he's better than a 5 but I don't think he has a repeat of last year and I think the Jays sold high on him.

Are we going to see the Yankees turn into the east coast, rich version of the A's? A team driven by metrics, who cuts costs, fields a team good enough to make the playoffs but never doing what's needed to get that team over the top?

    Oh. Wait.

There is still time to make moves but I think SD has set the ball in motion. I hope this starts the dominoes.
If the Yankees want to actually improve, they need DJ and another good player.

My fear with the Yankees is that they are crying poor now? What happens when they are stuck with Stanton's contract and other guys start to become eligible for really contracts?
This team will get old and slow, fast. Then when the guys like Dominguez, Medina, Peraza... make it, they will be surrounded and hindered by contracts of old, underperforming, injury prone players

Cashman needs to make some very good moves to prevent this team from wasting another round of high level talent.

    Ignorance is bliss

I can see why the yanks didnít go after darvish , he is 34 and signed until he is 36 . And he is owed almost 60 mill over the next 3 seasons . What is frustrating me is that cashman is sitting on his hands and doing nothing to hike other teams are taking advantage of the fire sales teams are having .

Who was the centerpiece in the Snell deal, a Cy Young winner? Patino? Who worked an ineffectual 17.1 innings at the ML level. He's a smaller guy who coming into 2020, appeared in just two games above the A-ball level? Although probably a MUCH better chip than Garcia!

Oh! and Meija is also undersized for his position. Will also be arb eligible in another season and slashed a paultry .225/.282/.386 (78 OPS+) for his career. Great chip. He graded as a below-average framer.

My singular intent, why would it cost the Yankees so much more for arguably a less accomplished arm? Why is it the Yankees are always held hostage? Miggy may not be a headliner, but Dominguez is over kill imo.

After what the Padres gave tor darvish and snell , I donít see why the yanks would have to give up Dominguez for Castillo . Garcia plus maybe Schmidt and a couple prospects should be enough .

Doc, I agree with u but as Passan and Bowden reported the Padres first choices were Castillo and or Gray. The asking price was apparently prohibitive to the point they moved on. I believe they wanted Gore or Abrams as the center piece for either, both are considered top 10 overall specs.

Teams always expect the Yanks to overpay in trades, it sucks but it's what is expected when teams deal with us. I agree about Dominguez but I don't think Miggy as the center piece gets Castillo. Imo It would take Frazier and 1 of Garcia or Schmidt as the center pieces and some lower level specs

So what should we conclude? The Rays (one of the craftiest deal makers in the MLB) F'ed up?

I do agree Frazier as the center piece is a much more likely scenario, Miggy is a part of the whole. I can't see Castillo demanding more than Snell.
