I have to hand it to the Dodgers front office. They are an example of what the Yankees should be on the East coast. 3 world series appearances in 4 years, including 1 win. To get over the hump, they traded some nice young assets for Mookie Betts and extended him immediately. And, they still retain one of the best farm systems in the MLB. Most complete team in baseball next year and the odds on favorite to repeat. They will strengthen the back of the bullpen and no doubt incorporate 2-3 of their youngsters into their core to keep the window open.

Meanwhile, back in yankee land, we are cutting the budget, looking at a decimated rotation with no high end options to eat innings behind Cole (none of Monty, Deivi, German, Sevy, Schmidt can give us 150 quality innings next year), a shaky bullpen that was exposed many times, a one dimensional line-up filled with injury prone, high strike out guys (except for the one guy we will probably lose this year over money) and a middle of the road farm system. Am I missing anything?

Can someone please tell me why we shouldn't be rebuilding if we don't intend to spend big?

Yeah, one Championship in 32 years. As Yankee fans, we can only dream. LOL

Thank you. The constant cry babying by the forum's doomsayers gets hard to read after a while.

The Rays will always need to hit on their trades and draft picks because they can't afford not to. The Astros lost Verlander and Cole and will probably lose one or more key players in the next year or two. I believe if we had a healthy Severino and a Kahnle, we would have beat the Rays. We made it to game 7 and lost on a single homerun. That game could easily have gone the other way.

And, people need to stop crying about Stanton. Sure, we need to find a way to keep him healthy, but we saw what he can do when he is healthy.

At the end of the day we all got to watch a very entertaining season and most fans would love to change places with us.

Also, we have seen in previous years, that a deep playoff run can take a toll on a baseball team. It is possible, the deep run could have adverse consequences for both the Dodgers and the Rays.

I am sorry to hear about Bauer wanting a long contract. I really thought his one year contract desire and the pressure on the Yankees to win at least one title with the current core could have resulted in a one year Bauer signing (with the Yankees resetting the LT after in 2022). I hope he changes his mind again. Getting Severino and German back and signing Bauer could make all the difference in 2021.

News flash! Team with most wins in the 2000's ? Yankees with 2 rings and 4 appearances. Overall record for the decade 965 - 651. Boston 920 - 699 also 2 rings in 2 appearances.


Most wins in the 2010 decade you ask? Yankees (7 postseason appearances) 921- 699. Red Sox have two rings in the decade, but trail in overall wins 872 - 748.

That is the biggest load of crap . Everyone knows the Yankees lack the pitching to be able to beat the dodgers in this series . All you have to do is look at the two rosters to see who would be the clear favorites to win that series .

Giants won it all with Bumgarner as their only decent starter in '14. Weird **** can happen in the playoffs and the best team on paper often comes up short. Not to mention that a lot can change between today and opening day (as well as between opening day and the '21 playoffs).

Pitching gets you to the World Series both teams this year had pitching . The playoffs aren’t as much of a crap shoot as you think it is . They had a lot more than just bumgarner or they wouldn’t have won 3 championships in 5 years and you know that so cut the baloney

Elite pitching and a deep staff is great for a big playoff run but not 100% necessary. Sure, this season the top 2 teams actually made it to the WS and the top seeded team won it all but that sure ain't the norm. It's all about which team is healthy and hot coming in to October.

....and no, in terms of starting pitching, the Giants did not have "a lot more than just Bumgarner" in '14 (the year I very specifically referred to prior to you shifting the goalposts as you love to do). They had Jake Peavy, Tim Hudson, and Ryan Vogelsong who were all at the tail end of their careers as their 2-4 guys that playoff run.

Unlike you, I actually watch these games and know what I'm talking about.

I still think Chapman is excellent. If, though, the Yankees do keep Britton (which we all expect), would it be better to switch their roles? Chapman has given up some memorable home runs and sometimes has trouble throwing strikes. Britton may be better as our closer.
