At the rate sevy is going he won’t be better than wheeler is . And we have to wait until 2022 until we know for sure what he has left . So I am not sure why you are comparing sevy to wheeler .

I have to hand it to the Dodgers front office. They are an example of what the Yankees should be on the East coast. 3 world series appearances in 4 years, including 1 win. To get over the hump, they traded some nice young assets for Mookie Betts and extended him immediately. And, they still retain one of the best farm systems in the MLB. Most complete team in baseball next year and the odds on favorite to repeat. They will strengthen the back of the bullpen and no doubt incorporate 2-3 of their youngsters into their core to keep the window open.

Meanwhile, back in yankee land, we are cutting the budget, looking at a decimated rotation with no high end options to eat innings behind Cole (none of Monty, Deivi, German, Sevy, Schmidt can give us 150 quality innings next year), a shaky bullpen that was exposed many times, a one dimensional line-up filled with injury prone, high strike out guys (except for the one guy we will probably lose this year over money) and a middle of the road farm system. Am I missing anything?

Can someone please tell me why we shouldn't be rebuilding if we don't intend to spend big?

You have said more times than i can count about what a failure Sevy has been developmentally for the Yanks, yet you have clearly stated Wheeler as a success for the Mets. Sevy has put up superior stats to what Wheeler did with the Mets. How can Sevy be a failure, like you have stated but Wheeler who has inferior numbers, wasn't really developed by the Mets and doesn't even play for the Mets anymore is more of a success?

Here's a look at our core:

    1. Judge - 29 years old; injury prone
    2. Sanchez - soon to be 28 yr old who can't catch a baseball or hit
    3. Sevy - TJ; hasn't pitched since 2018 and was probably hiding an injury since mid 2018
    4. Torres - still young; imperative to move him back to 2B so he can flourish after a disappointing 2020
    5. Frazier - still young; finally turned a corner after a concussion derailed his career in 2018.
    6. Bird - working at Home Depot; currently on disability due to an injury
    7. Betances - injury prone; currently on the Mets
    8. Green - he's okay, but clearly has declined the last 2 years after showing signs of dominance. He's no future closer.
    9. Monty - still young; development derailed due to TJ

Sevy has been a failure so far in the playoffs with a 1-3 record and over a 5 era . As for wheeler he has yet to pitch a playoff game . Then there is the fact that wheeler has pitched about 2 full seasons more than sevy . Wheeler had 4 full seasons while sevy has just 2 full seasons , 2019 he pitched just one game in the regular season . Like I said before let’s see what sevy has when he is 100% back from surgery and then we can compare him to wheeler

Btw wheeler was in the mets minor league system for 2 years before being brought up to the majors as was thor .
Meanwhile torres was in the yanks minor league system for 2 years and yet people here are giving Yankees credit for developing him in the minors . The way I see it if the Yankees get credit for developing torres for 2 years in the minors , the mets should get credit for developing wheeler and Thor in their minor league system as well . That is why I counted them as developmental successes from the mets minor league system .

    Think about it.
Thank you. The constant cry babying by the forum's doomsayers gets hard to read after a while.

The Rays will always need to hit on their trades and draft picks because they can't afford not to. The Astros lost Verlander and Cole and will probably lose one or more key players in the next year or two. I believe if we had a healthy Severino and a Kahnle, we would have beat the Rays. We made it to game 7 and lost on a single homerun. That game could easily have gone the other way.

And, people need to stop crying about Stanton. Sure, we need to find a way to keep him healthy, but we saw what he can do when he is healthy.

At the end of the day we all got to watch a very entertaining season and most fans would love to change places with us.

Also, we have seen in previous years, that a deep playoff run can take a toll on a baseball team. It is possible, the deep run could have adverse consequences for both the Dodgers and the Rays.

I am sorry to hear about Bauer wanting a long contract. I really thought his one year contract desire and the pressure on the Yankees to win at least one title with the current core could have resulted in a one year Bauer signing (with the Yankees resetting the LT after in 2022). I hope he changes his mind again. Getting Severino and German back and signing Bauer could make all the difference in 2021.

Snell was at 72 pitches. The 9th place hitter got a single, big deal.

The Top 4 of the Dodgers lineups was 0-8 and 7 strikeouts vs Snell and dumbass Cash pulls him because he was going to see the overmatched Dodgers a 3rd time.

Way to go Cash! 7 strikeouts in 8 at bats and you feel it was time? I do not care how you want to slice this up. This was a Bill Buckner Game 6 flub!

Justin Turner had 2 positive tests and knew before Game 6 yet he insisted on playing. The Dodgers allowed it.

MLB knew this and yet they didn’t hit the pause button?

And to make matters worse he still went out on the field to celebrate. No masks! He should have been escorted out before Game 6 and all players should have been tested with Game 6 out on hold.

Manfred is the worst commissioner ever.

My hope with that is that both teams agreed to let him play.

Excellent. That means next season is over and we lost. Start crying about it now and maybe you will be done by the time the season starts.
