Oh ok . Well this just goes to show at how badly the yanks have done in player development, especially with starting pitching

I thought the Yanks did a very good job developing position talent from 13 -17. Once Dembo left that has gone downhill.

I'm very hopeful that Blake and our new director of pitching, I believe his name is Briend or something like that, he was driveline sports #1 pitching development guy. Between the two of them and all the elite arm talent we have coming, hopefully we get a few good pitchers out of them.

Imo the difference between the Dodgers, Rays and us is they have developed a continuous pipeline that keeps producing MLB regulars or far better each yr. We seem to be more every other yr. Might not sound like a massive difference but it sure adds up over 5 plus yrs

I disagree , the Yankees missed the playoffs 3 times in those years and that wasnít because of aging players . The big difference between the dodgers and yanks is that their Gm is willing to part with top prospects while they have value and they donít rely analytics so damned much . As for the rays , they were bad for a few years in between World Series appearances so they were able to get good position in a couple of the drafts .

Im sure the yankees had similiar feelings about Verlander before he went on to crush them in every post season start since 2017, while also winning 1 and narrowly winning a second cy young, along the way. I'll take a chance on that, for one year, yes thanks.

    See my response above.

If Roberston was cheap? Yes. I'd do it but again, he's 36 and hasn't pitched in two years because of a TJ surgery setback. He's not a reliable choice. He's risk reward.
Lindor is not a traditionally good hitter against righties, and he doesn't hit in the clutch, he also isn't a basestealer and isn't faster than Aaron Judge, as far as sprint speed goes. So he would not improve the lineup, or the base paths. What lindor would improve is defense at short, in the immediate short term. The question is, will this be the difference maker in the yankees winning the world series, over having a potential ace. Defense is important, but i watched the yankees win 5 championships with a second baseman who couldn't throw to first base, a below average shortstop, centerfielder, left fielder and catcher. We had good defense at first, right and third, that's it. What we had an abundance of was good pitching. I choose to believe that's what made the difference, rather than Tino's picks at first base, but that's just me.

Did you mean giving verlander a one year deal for 2022? If so that might not be a bad idea

Sign a 39 yr old coming off TJS who won't have pitched much in 2yrs, what could possibly go wrong with that. Verlander isn't going to take some cheap prove it kinda deal, he'll expect to get paid like a TORP

Hmm. Pay Verlander for one year, vs pay Lindor, for extra defense at short, for 10 years or more, and expect him to play that position and hit, at a high level, for the entire life of the contract. What could possibly go wrong?

What they have to do THIS off season is upgrade the starting and middle relief pitching. If we were able to get guys like Lindor and Brantley would be big upgrades and would go along way to adding balance and way more contact to that lineup

Improving their pitching this off season is a must as well as resigning DJ.

Agreed , something has to be done about the pitching overall .
