The only reason this is a conversation is because of Kaplan’s report. You want to use that report to say he’s firing Theo but then just call it speculation when it doesn’t fit your narrative. Like I said, nonsense.

Man the 2021 FA class is depressing without Betts in it. Springer I guess could be worth it but I hate him so no interest. Trevor Bauer is probably my top target and then see what you can get for one KB or Baez and trade the other. Schwarber is an interesting trade candidate too but if the DH stays next year, id be inclined to keep him.

Wouldnt mind seeing what we could get for Contreras too and make a run at Realmuto.

Don’t worry about any of the top FA because Cubs won’t be bidding for any of them .

Personally you don't want any lame duck guy in your organization at any position, and Theo will be a lame duck for 2021. I would give him a yr extension with an easy opt out clause after 2021, and give Theo the year to clean up as much of the mess as possible.

I really dont want to sit through and watch another 4 or 5 years of a 60 win team and signing guys for a year, hoping to flip them at the deadline and draft in top 3 and again hope that those guys become great

Majority of these guys now are under 30, there zero reasons not to be able to continue to compete with whomever they decide to keep and extend.

It doesn’t have to be that way IMO even if they decide to trade everybody . I think it would be a 2 year process until they are interesting again . They have enough guys in the system where if they get the right guys in trades and are agressive in the 2022 FA class the process shouldn’t be that long .

Hoyer probably going to get that opportunity to take over, he earned that chance and I have no doubt he'll be Rickett first choice.

Only way i might see Hoyer turning it down is if Theo gets an ownership of an expansion team and wants Jed to run it but that may be a couple years from now.

They’ve already announced Sandy Alderson will be the president after the sale. The Phillies are saying MacPhail is staying so they also don’t look like a great fit. Theo isn’t taking a job where he reports to another baseball guy.

The new Mets owner Steve Cohen has already decided who their new team president will be: former GM Sandy Alderson.

Theo isn’t going to take a demotion to go to the Mets.

Well this is kinda disturbing:

Former MLB pitcher and current Cubs Double A Tennessee pitching coach Charlie Haeger is dead at the age of 38 after being involved in a suspected murder/suicide.

His ex girlfriend was shot to death on Friday and he was determined to be the shooter, and he was found earlier Saturday in his car with “self inflicted gunshot wounds”.
