I don't know...But his decline was pretty fast and kind of stunning...
He already had his money. He got a $100m contract from St. Louis already, it isn't like he hadn't been paid. If he was really only doing PED's for a contract, that mission was accomplished nearly a decade prior to the 10-year contract. It just doesn't really seem to track that he would only do PED's in St. Louis because of Tony LaRussa, then go to LAA and stop immediately.

I'd assume if he was on PED's he'd have continued. It wasn't like the man got fat and lazy, either. Or had a litany of injury issues. Which are two things commonly connected to former PED users who stop. Pujols just...got...slow, and declined. It was a very fast and stunning decline, but they happen sometimes. Weird declines occur. Hell, no one thinks Jason Heyward stopped using PED's or is 5 years older here in Chicago (he was a top-50 hitter in baseball in 2015). He has always worked hard here. He just...hasn't been very good. The issue is that HoF players usually don't see such weird things happen; I think that's what stands out about Pujols. But over enough time, and enough players, etc...it's bound to happen. I think it just...happened. Pujols just..hit a wall.

I was actually really curious about this one. Albert Pujols has been worth 100.1 WAR over his career, 14.1 of that has been as an Angel.

To use a future HOFer. Mike Trout has accumulated 74.6 WAR in parts of 10 seasons as an Angel. Albert Pujols accumulated 86.6 WAR in parts of 11 seasons as an Angel. The guy went from being Albert Pujols to, 6 of his 9 years with the Angels, turning into Chris Davis. Crazy.

Was looking up Pujols stats, if it important for him to do so and and wants to make a run for it in 2022, 2020 might of hurt his chances of reaching 700 homeruns, he 38 away

Pujols contract with the Angels also included another 10 years if he played the first 10 to be a consultant with the team, so he will be a part of the Angels organization another 10 years

Even on the worst teams, Pujols isn't getting 700 this year. He hasn't hit 38 home runs since 2016. And they deadened the ball. With his retiring, it's done. He'd need 2 years of nearly full PAs to get there, I'd guess.

Now there’s speculation of both Yelich and Hader going to SD, but nothing from any main baseball writers.

There’s no way the Brewers give up both of them.

I’d guess Cain and Hader , then the crew signs JBJ

If the crew is looking to cut payroll, this makes sense. But seeing what the trade market has been lately, if Cain goes with Hader, I would guess the return to be pretty small for Milwaukee.

Read here that KB is willing to talk long term extension with Cubs. I would suggest that both sides work toward something like DJLM and Yankees worked out, $90mill over 6 yrars. More than he is worth based on last year, but not as much as he would have been before last year. He's set for life, even if his shoulder never comes entirely back and gets to stay in Chicago, Cubs aren't forever burdened with bad contract if he's never the same, and have the ability to build a winner around him if he does. win-win!
