Hearing that Reds would like to dump NC's contract already. Would Cubs be interested if Reds paid 1/3-1/2 of his salary, now that there is a vacancy in Left?

Nope. The Cubs have given out 2 guaranteed contracts since June of 2019. They signed Steven Souza to a 1 year deal. They signed Jeremy Jefferss to a 1 year deal. Since then they have added Davies but only in a salary dump.

The Cubs also have no interest in being good right now. They will not trade for Castellanos unless the Reds eat almost all of it and the Cubs don't have to give them anything. At that point the Reds would just DFA him.

The "he thrived at Wrigley" was probably just a good run and little to do with anything else. Hes an okay player, but I have no issues he's elsewhere.
