Gov. Greg Abbot Attempts Egregious Voter Suppression

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/01/polit...ots/index.html

This is absolutely nuts. My home county (Harris) has nearly 5 million people, 62% of which are people of color, and is physically larger than the state of Rhode Island. Its also a Democratic stronghold. This is indefensible.

This is what they do man.

Texas is a battleground state this year and they canít have that.

The ACLU will sue and then the Texas Supreme Court will hold the up what Abbot is doing.

Come on man, they love make sure dems donít vote and neither blacks.

That seems pretty screwy. They can only secure one location per county? Why not just 1 per state?

Also happening in my state: https://www.texastribune.org/2020/08...arty-november/

And Abbot and the mayor of Austin have been battling about all kinds of things since the Austin is the state capital and the mayor is a Dem. Abbot has been using his state powers to set rules to not allow the mayor to run the city the way he wants. It's pretty stupid.

    Blatant. Not even remotely transparent.

Seriously, just laugh at people who support politicians like Abbott whenever they wave their flag and pretend to care about "freedom" and "democracy". Just laugh at them.

Like the way Presidents set some rules that don't allow Governors to run states the way they want? its called a higher office...

Wow. What a high-level take. Very insightful.

Texas is the only reason the Republicans are competitive at the presidential level. If that state turns blue, it's all over for the GOP.

How hard is it to tell the difference between trying to make it easier for people to vote and voter suppression.

My god people. Aren't you supposed to be the red blooded flag waving "they hate us cuz our freedoms" people? Yet you hate the idea of making voting east and accessible for everyone.

But yeah. The idea behind mail in ballots is not transparent. Nor should it be! The goal is to get more people to vote and to make it easier to do so. That is the goal. If more people voting helps Dems and that's the only reason some people are pushing for it...so be it. It's an objectively good thing to fight for.

Tell me how voter suppression is good.
