Bam Adebayo

What do you think the ceiling is for Bam Adebayo? I can't stop thinking about it after that all-time block on Jayson Tatum and how Miami is straight handling every challenge before them, with Adebayo the fulcrum of their defense.
He's not nearly as prolific, but Adebayo already has the consistent drive some wish Joel Embiid had, despite being a few years younger. His trade value has never been closer to Embiid, despite the latter's world-destroying abilities when locked in. I could see Miami logically declining a swap of Adebayo and, say, Duncan Robinson, for Embiid.
How close do you think Adebayo gets to Embiid talent-wise, despite being smaller? Does Adebayo's smaller size improve his value from a health standpoint and perimeter defense?

You’re right, we wouldn’t trade Bam for Embiid I’ve been saying that all year.

As for the question, he doesn’t have a ceiling. He can do everything except shoot 3s right now and I’ve seen him knock them down in drills in pickup games. He’s shooting 46% from midrange since the start of the bubble now and like 85% from the free throw so he’s improved there now. He can defend all 5 positions at an elite rate. He reminds me of a baby giannis, he models his game after KG Giannis and Bosh, he’s a bigger stronger faster more athletic draymond. He’s baby Dwight. It’s hard to tell right now but as he continues to expand his jumper he’s going to be unstoppable at some point.

They are two different animals.

It's like asking who's better KG or Dirk. Not saying either is like KG or Dirk in play-style, just that they contrast rather than compare.

If you need a quick, defensively versatile passing Center who can give you 10-20 on any given night you take BAM. If you need a Center to stretch the floor a bit, and be a scoring force to give you 22-30 you take Joel.

I think Joel is still more valuable overall because without Miami's shooters and smart offensive players BAM would not have the assists or easy scoring opportunities that he gets.

For the two teams in discussion... We'd be doing then a MAJOR favor trading BAM and Robinson to Philly. They would fit so much better there than Embiid would in Miami. We'd have to make a few more follow up moves to get the same value impact.

Bam is a more athletic/rich man's Al Horford. He does everything better than Horford did in his prime except for shooting/spacing.

Hahaha that’s hilarious. Towns teammate said he’d pick Bam to start a franchise going forward.

He’s had KG potential. He’s an elite defender and can do everything offensively other than shoot 3s. He’s headed there whether you like it or not and you can sit here and mock it all you want but everything I’ve told you all involving the Heat this year has been true whether it’s how elite we would be, how great our young core was, how the Bucks did not want to see us, how the Sixers were garbage and Jimmy easily made the right decision, etc.

You want Towns? Cool, have fun being a lottery team every year. Please find the 2 others you take.

I don’t have a problem with anyone taking AD Embiid or Jokic over a player who’s just in his first year as a starter lol. This guy is just going to keep getting better and better and Miami is back with the cap space and assets to make an even bigger splash going forward. Watch out, the Sixers and the rest of the East or toast going forward.
