Was it just Jitters, wild, or both??
A second or third look would of given them a better idea

Why I disagreed with the thought of that
they held him down so noone can scout him and theyll just add him to PS roster
If he had jitters today, imagine that in a PS game

Kid had great stuff, he just had no control of it today ..
Are they going to trust it in a best of 3, we'll find out tomorrow or Tuesday
Sorry for the way that was formatted..lol
    Dont know why that happened

Well Marquez went pretty much as I thought, actually worse. As I said more than once, he isn't God, isn't a saviour. He should have been up 3 weeks ago if at all, but that wasn't in the cards due to other circumstances. I guess it was worth a look today but based on that inning I would never ever expose this kid to playoff pressure this year, he was clearly extremely nervous, pitching looked like 2019 Kimbrel. No reason to subject him to mental torture and turn him into Carl Edwards Jr.

We need to be careful with this guy, just let him develop. If he spends the year in AA all next season I'm fine. Work on his secondary pitches and command. We get him in a Cubs uni for 6 seasons no matter when he comes up so do it when he's ready.

Are we counting starters? Yu Darvish. Kyle Hendricks.

Maybe Quintana? I'm not sure i could claim i trust anybody after that. I think Kimbrel can probably get elite bats out if he doesn't have a pressure problem. Jeffress has the mentality of a late inning guy but I'm not sure his luck will hold out. Alzolay has great stuff if he can throw strikes. Putting those three anywhere near trust was tough. None of the rest of the staff could fit anywhere close for me.

EDIT: I like Chafin a bit but it might just be the mustache.

So 1 inning and the Cubs forum decides Marquez sucks.

    Never change, PSD.

On to the playoffs. Hopefully the offense comes around because we are pretty damn likely to need them.

I mean most of the people who came to that conclusion were already rooting for him to suck. You're not going to change that mentality.

They would be insane to add him to the playoff roster. Leave him off, i think most here will agree.

I'm sure he's not that bad with control, I mean he threw like 2 fastballs for strikes lol. He hits 100 but is mostly 97-99.

Looking at his minor league stats he's had periods with good control and not good control. So could be a Darvish-type thing where he needs to find his slot and get into a groove, otherwise he's all over the place. He's still young no need to worry about this yet.

If you're including me in that

I never said he sucked or close to it

That 1 inning showed me that he has good stuff but couldn't control it and it would of been good to of seen him of gotten another game or two in to make a better determination if it was just jitters or not

Also shows that just adding him to the PS roster without giving him a look first could of been a bad idea whether it was jitters or not

I look forward to his next couple opportunities whether it in the postseason or at some point next season

His stuff was nasty, just needs to hit his spots

He hasn't pitched 1 inning yet.

Not saying he sucks but just throwing hard isn't good enough. Throwing 97-98 isn't that impressive any more. MLB hitters see that kind of heat coming out of every bullpen in the majors. He showed no control and in 19 starts in A ball he's walking nearly 5 per 9. Clearly its not just a "nerves" issue. Maybe it played a little part of it but it was a 10-1 game and all he had to do was play catch and he couldn't get the ball over the plate.

Great job by the Cubs this season

Finishing first when experts had them finishing 3rd or 4th

Big Kudos to the organization, management, Ross, and the players for following protocol and getting through the whole season without any setbacks

On to the postseason and 13 more wins

I like how each NL central team dont play each other in first round

Be interesting to see how many of the 4 can advance to the next round
