I don't know what it is with players these days. Is it them? Is it "I make too much so I don't have to listen to anyone who says i'm doing it wrong"? Is it the hitting coaches are so clueless they just sit and let them swing toothpicks?

Jason Bay stated nothing was wrong with him. Yet he went from a hitter who it to both center and one of the sides (I can't remember now which side) to a complete pull hitter to one side only. Once that happened he sucked.

Ike Davis was doing bad. Keith Hernandez did a video showing what he was doing wrong. Ike never listened.

Back in the old days, hitters listened to their coaches. I remember Tony Gwynn would watch videos of his at bats to see what he did wrong. I guess these days players just don't want to hear anything negative.

They need to win the last six just to get to .500 & that probably does not get them in,

The bullpen was the problem early in the season, but the weakened rotation & lack of clutch hitting did them in at the end.

But they are not far away and with Cohen coming in, I am optimistic about the future.

Also this is something people havenít taken into account. The Mets have had a difficult schedule only playing East teams. They havenít been able to beat up on other divisions. They will play better next year.

Looking at Jeff Kentís stats... another in a long list of players that the Mets gave up on way too early and who really came into his own after the Mets shipped him out (for Carlos Baerga, of all people).

I just want Alonso to go on a tear for these last 6 games and carry us into the playoffs somehow.

Thatíll help even things out for Pete a little. He needs a good last half dozen to set up next year.
