I have a lot of family in Kentucky. They’re some of the nicest people I know. Super small town people. They live in a dry county (didn’t know they still exist), southern Baptists and hardcore Trumpers. And even they feel the same about Mitch. They hate the man and won’t vote for him (though they won’t vote for the Dem).

It is always sad when we lose such an icon. She has been and will go down as one of the better justices ever seated in the court. Beyond that, she also seemed to be a remarkable human being in general.

That said, so many of you seem to be surprised an 87 yr old who has fought cancer for years has died and seemed to go right past being saddened by her death and right to doom and gloom about what those nasty Republicans might do with the opportunity.

In my defense, I think may be the only poster in these nine plus pages who wrote that he was saddened, and I never once went further to say anything about politics.

I think you really mean those who simply went straight to the politics (and to be fair, from both sides it seems, though the left of center seems more exercised than the right).

Brewers comes across as a guy who hasn’t succeeded or gotten much attention in life so he became a conservative because he believes the world is against him and now that Trump is president, he’s going to project his insecurities and relish in a winning side and doesn’t care what his side will say because he feels slighted by the left and will whatever it takes to make people feel the way the he feels he was ignored prior to a Trump presidency

There was no "rule" regarding election year SCOTUS appointments. McConnell made one up about "giving the American people a say" and then changed it again after the election to where the Senate and POTUS must be the same party.
