Arizona Diamondbacks @ San Francisco Giants - Septemer 4-7

    .........................

ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS (14-24) @ SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS (18-20)

    ORACLE PARK

    Game 1: Friday, September 4th @ 6:45 PM

    VS.
    Taylor Clarke..........Tyler Anderson

    Scouting Report:
Diamondbacks: Clarke stepped into the rotation in place of Merrill Kelly, who has a blood clot in his right shoulder. Clarke has pitched well in two starts. Last time out against the Giants, he allowed just one run on one hit over five innings at Chase Field.

Giants: Anderson will make his third consecutive start vs. the D-backs. He threw a complete game on Aug. 22, but he wasn't as sharp in his last outing, giving up seven runs over 4 2/3 innings at Chase Field.

    Game 2: Saturday, September 5th @ 6:15 PM

    VS.
    Madison Bumgarner..........Trevor Cahill

    Scouting Report:
Diamondbacks: Bumgarner will be making his first start since Aug. 9 when he sustained a mid-back strain and had to be put on the injured list. This will be Bumgarner's first appearance against his former team, whom he pitched for from 2009-19.

Giants: Cahill departed his last start against the D-backs on Saturday with left hip discomfort, but he's dealt with the ailment before and believes he'll be able to manage it down the stretch.

    Game 3: Sunday, September 6th @ 1:05 PM

    VS.
    Alex Young..........Johnny Cueto

    Scouting Report:
Diamondbacks: Young initially took Madison Bumgarner's spot in the rotation, but he has stayed in it despite Bumgarner's return. In four starts this year, Young is 0-2 with a 4.42 ERA. He made seven relief appearances prior to joining the rotation.

Giants: Cueto, who did not end up changing teams at the Trade Deadline, struck out six over 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball against the D-backs on Sunday. He is 11-3 with a 3.03 ERA in 17 career starts vs. Arizona.

    Game 4: Monday, September 7th @ 5:05 PM

    VS.
    Zac Gallen..........Kevin Gausman

    Scouting Report:
Diamondbacks: Gallen has been the team's best pitcher. Last time out against the Dodgers, he allowed just one hit over seven-plus shutout innings. He has not allowed more than three runs in any of his 23 big league starts to begin his career.

Giants: Gausman tossed five innings of two-run ball and benefited from an avalanche of run support in his last start, as the Giants scored 23 runs to help him earn the win vs. the Rockies on Tuesday.

So it looks like it is a good thing we didn't resign Bumgarner.

Yup. Sometimes the mind makes better decisions than the heart. Though I didn't see him falling off this hard and kinda expect him to bounce back a bit next year (if not sooner).

Gotta give this offense and Kapler (as well as his coaching staff) some credit.

So we know Game 1 and 2 will be Cueto/Gausman... I wonder who goes game 3? I'd bet Smyly instead of Webb, to break up the RHP's.

I would've laughed in your face if you told me the Giants would be one game over .500 and in a playoff spot with 17 games to go.

Even bigger laugh if it was in a 162 game season.
