Cubs at the very least have to win 2 of these 5, cant let the Cardinals kick their *** and take control of the Division this weekend

    I hate the expanded playoffs.

5 game Cubs/Cards series in September with the teams in 1st/2nd place and I find it hard to really care that much.

I wish they had a rule where division winners only had to win 1 game in the 1st round and their opponent had to win 2, or something like that to give some actual advantage to division winners.

I'm not a fan of it either in baseball
I hope they don't continue it after this year

After 162 games, you earned a spot if you win the Division and then it should just be 2 WC teams with the next best records

Baseball supposedly wants to get to 32 teams but obviously those plans are put on hold because 2020. But if/when 32 teams happen, expanded playoffs will follow. But right now, expanded playoffs probably is just one and done.
    Screw sabermetics.

There was some talk a few months ago that COVID might speed up the expansion process because it would add a nice lump sum payment to the other 30 owners in exchange for splitting future national revenue 32 ways instead of 30 ways.

I’d hate 50% of the league making the playoffs every season. The best part about baseball is the regular season. This would kill the regular season and take away incentive for teams to spend to go from an 85 win team to a 90+ win team.

Assuming when that happens, they'll have four 4 team divisions in each league.

IMO they should just have the 4 division winners go at it in two best of 7 series

Teams should only be awarded for winning a 4 team division in a 162 game schedule, that a tough accomplishment and would make September games more tense and competitive, especially if the 3rd and 4th place teams have a chance..

Imagine a division with 12 games to go and 3 or 4 teams are separated by like 5 or 6 games, they play each other and only 1 makes the playoffs

If they get to 32, I think the best we can expect is something like this:
    4 division winners
    2 WC team
1/2 gets a bye, and 3/6, 4/5 do the play-in games. Think of it similar to now. But with an extra play-in game. The league loves those play ins, it seems.
