Good move by Beane. They made a great offense even better.

Wondering if Barreto will ever pan out.

Good deal for both sides. La Stella walks after this year, and the Angels are out of contention. Barreto has plenty of service time but no options, and he gets to prove his bat can improve and he can stick at 2B. Athletics get a rental for a change of scenery player who would have to pass waivers to go back down to the minors.

Angels need to give him consistent ABs the rest of the way. Barreto only has 219 PAs over four seasons and is only 24. Yet he is out of options. A's really didn't ever give him a chance to really stick and get consistent playing time. Maybe that changes with the Angels and getting a chance to play. This reminds me of when the Orioles dealt Jake Arrieta- still a good prospect, but really at the end of what the current team can do with him. The turnaround potential is definitely there.
