    Playoff race (2020 addition)

MLB site shows us 2 games back of the WC but from my understanding of the new expanded format for 2020 we are currently in if the season were to end today. (first 2 in each division and then the next 2 overall, 8 teams total)

    Yankees/Rays
    Twins/Indians
    A's/Astros

    White Sox
    Jays

and as it stands now we would play the A's in a best of 3

Your correct we hold the last spot as of today. Stole this from TSN.

In the expanded playoff format this year, eight teams in each league make the postseason, including the top two teams in each division plus the two next-best clubs as wild-card winners.

Yanks will crumble. Their style of play wonít hang with the NL East

Thanks for confirming. It will be a sprint to the finish line - if we can manage to play a little over .500 ball that might be enough.

The two teams directly in front of us are on crazy hot streaks too. But if you look at the teams below us, who is team that you might expect to move up? They all look like crappy teams.

Maybe the Tigers or Royals if you were to ask me? Wouldn't say it would be those teams moving up so much as the Jays moving down. The Jays need their starting 4 to remain healthy to get into the postseason. These guys give them a chance to win everyday.

Orioles are really the only team the Jays need to be concerned with in my opinion

Yankees lost double header yesterday. Cole got knocked around.

We done with Tampa. Who have been our Achilles heel. Playoff spots up for grabs

It is there for the taking. IMO making the play-offs this season will set us up nicely for a 2021 run. FA's will be more open to coming here and all players - not just the young ones - will gain valuable experience and get a feel of what it's like to play in the post season.

    Completely agree!

I think Jays are in a good spot to take the second wild card.

Meaningful baseball in September. This is going to be fun. There are going to be lots of moments of frustration for all of us. This is what we all want right?

The Wild-card series - strange name but all 16 teams need to play, no byes.

I know it's early but thought I'd put this here now and build on it. Walker has proven himself IMO, he gets Gm #2.

    Ryu Gm #1
    Walker Gm #2
    Ray Gm #3

    Jansen/Kirk

"One more wrinkle this year that will make this postseason even more unpredictable: MLB and the players association are close to an agreement on no off days in the first-round series (up to three straight games), Division Series (five straight) and League Championship Series (seven straight). The World Series would retain its usual two off days (after Games 2 and 5)"

If itís in a bubble there is no need for travel days. Thank god theyíre doing this as far as Iím concerned. Teams go stretches of 3 weeks sometimes without a day off in the regular season. Playing 7 straight days should be a non issue for them.
