Same applies to a new structure for responsible gun ownership.

None of this is flipping a switch overnight. This is building infrastructure and formalizing this over time and the culture will shift with it.

My dad took me shooting and taught me a lot about guns growing up. A healthy respect and proper training for handling, maintaining (I still love the smell of gun cleaner), and firing. For such a dangerous thing that causes so many accidental deaths, it baffles me that training and licensing isnít mandatory across the board. This isnít 13 colonies with muskets to fight the government anymore. Itís just practical protections for modern weaponry.

that I can definitely agree with.....mandatory training...I had thought there WAS a certification required to even get a hunting license, let alone purchase a gun, but apparently not.

I had an ex brother in law who almost killed himself a few fourth of Julys ago......when his personal CANNON wasn't properly cleaned and blew up when he fired it. This thing was capable of sending a 4 inch metal ball over 100 yards, but all he needed to purchase it...was the $300 he paid the consignment shop that had it.
    gotta love 'referential' treatment

It varies by state and by county. I think we need some federal mandates (train, test, license, register and insure) and then some nuances by county because rural Nebraska is not Manhattan.

I mean thereís a difference between loaning a car to someone with no license and crap then loaning a gun to a good friend while you go out hunting together.

That isn't what you originally said though. You said what if you loan a gun to a friend and they end up going nuts. Or something very similar to that.

The buddy you are hunting with is going on a shooting spree, and your biggest concern is whether you'll catch a charge after. How far into the fifth dimension are we gonna take this hypothetical?

Not in a world where you need to be licensed for it all. But hunting buddies is the least of our problems lol.
