Whiteside is a FA and will likely not be re-signed

At age 23, he's taking six threes in 54 games and only making two. Who knows if he'll ever become a serviceable shooter.
We all know Embiid and Simmons are a weird fit. If the 76ers wanted to focus on Embiid, Lillard would be about the perfect sidekick to immediately contend. He spreads the floor and gives Philly another alpha late-game scorer. They'd still be great defensively with Embiid, Thybulle, Richardson and Horford.
Portland is fourth in three-point percentage. From point guard through power forward, they can spread the floor around Simmons, who can play to his strength, get to the rack and kick it out to open shooters. He dramatically improves their defense, although he'll have to figure out how to operate around Nurkic in the middle.
I'd be willing to include a pick or two along with Lillard. I know Simmons is younger.

You have to trade Nurkic to make that work ó maybe Randle, Gibson, Barrett, Robinson and the first-rounder for Lillard and Nurkic. The Blazers are basically starting a rebuild at that point, but why not sell high.

Nah; Nurkic is already as valuable as Sabonis, much less Turner. Warren and McConnell are worthless filler. Wait until Sabonis' new contract kicks in. Give me him, Brogdon, Bitadze and two first-rounders, and maybe I'll consider it.
That's being generous. Brogdon's great and all, but who knows how long his body will hold up? I know he'll never be as good as Lillard.

Why should the Blazers "shop" CJ and (FA next season, can't be "shopped") Whiteside? Why should the Blazers "shop" anybody?

It's your Sixers that will desperately be "sellers" next season buddy, not the Blazers, they rather will be "buyers"!

It would be a very NY thing to do: trade away your future for a star that isnít going to win you a title.

    No they won't!

They desperately need to dump salary for all the following seasons and there will be none buying Hortford's or Harris' contracts given their values in what is expected to be "the worst off season ever for investing"!

There is really no other alternative than to trade Simmons or Embiid, and then not for what would be the "best deal in the world", but instead, in order to dump some salary!

For the Sixers, things are very simple, they are really screwed and in the worst financial condition than any other team in the league...

If they make it to the ECF this season (highly unlikely) the F.O. may consider to pay the (huge) tax and have another go a season later, but in the likely situation that they get disqualified in the 1st or the 2nd round, they then have to blow the team up!
