What do we think? Did the Tigers hold on too long to Boyd or is it still early and value could still be had in a trade? By value I mean actual quality return, not necessarily flyers on disappointing prospects and wild cards.

nahhhh, you're not going to get anything worthwhile in return.

I didn't figure given age and production, even with cost control figured in. Which is a bummer considering the rest of the Price trade has not lived up to expectations either.

I feel like the natural response is "that's just baseball", between his start and Jaboby's start, both can be chalked up to "just baseball"

funny comment by Gardy in the postgame though about fans response to Jacoby staying in the 9 spot despite his production: "I don't hear any fans"

I go back to my standard response, "what were the offers?"

if we're not getting offered anything, should we have traded him for nothing?

Pitching is struggling across the league right now. They didn't get much of a spring training. Boyd has been **** though.

Which is fair. There is that balance between holding on, not getting what you want, and waiting too long. Avila's track record works against him in this case imo. His trades specifically have been less than stellar.

Of course. This season above others makes it really hard to extrapolate data. Moreso I was thinking over the past few years regarding Boyd.

Also, more homers! Tied the league, albeit early, in home runs as a team. Nice.

Amazing how Derprtroit teams will do that. Set an amazing record or do something special, just to lose in the end.

Also, no games until Friday due to the Cardinals having Covid cases.
