What?? These guys played really well today, especially the pitching staff. Phillies had 3 hits game 1. Fried has been putting on a clinic game 2 so far.

It's clear he isn't a starter. Much more effective out of the pen.

Why do they refuse to get starters from the minors?! Itís so frustrating. Was not our pitching depth in our minors suppose to be a strength? Wilson, Anderson etc. they canít be worse then Newcomb.

Mmmm, Soroka, Touki, Wright, Newcomb and Fried were all part of our rotation, so how are the Braves refusing to get starters from the minors? If they don't bring Anderson now is because he isn't ready. Now that Newcomb is back in the minors I've heard rumblings about Tucker Davidson getting the call up. Don't know why Wilson isn't already here, he might be hurt.

Really tough start to the season. As Bill Shanks pointed out:

    Mike Soroka - Hurt
    Cole Hamels - Hurt
    Felix Hernandez - Opted-out
    Mike Foltynewicz - AAA
    Sean Newcomb - AAA

Fried really is the only man standing at this point. We really have to hope that Kyle Wright & Touki Toussaint take some steps forward and solidify spots in the rotation, as things are pretty desperate right now.

Based on the latest reports, Cole Hamels still has not thrown off a mound. So, it really is starting to look more and more like he won't contribute anything to the Braves this season.

Yeah, and to put the cherry on top, the expanded playoffs really limit the amount of team that will be sellers, so the starters market this year will be low.

Yeah, complaining that the farm system hasnít produced for ATL is just silly. Their top 2 SPs are Soroka and Fried. Newk, Wright, Wilson, Touki, Ynoa have all made starts over the last year.

Plus the bats: Acuna, Albies, Swanson, Camargo, Riley, Jackson, Contreras have all made starts this year.

Trade wise, Mike Minor or Lance Lynn are likely to be our best options. I don't see the Rangers as contenders.

Joe Musgrove makes sense. Pirates are awful and should be willing to sell. Musgrove has been solid the last two years and has 2 more years of control.

Robbie Ray probably isn't likely but he's a FA next year so maybe.

Jeff Samardzija was probably an (underwhelming) option but he's hurt. He wasn't pitching well either to start the year.

Definitely slim pickings. Hopefully a few teams (like the Rangers) go on some losing streaks soon.

I think there is still enough time for Hamels to get healthy and get on the mound. If we can get him back by the Orioles series Sept 14-16 there will be enough time for him to get in 3 starts. That's 5 weeks from now. I read on twitter that he hopes to throw a bullpen by the end of next week. Getting in 2-3 starts before the year is over might be doable.

If we're able to acquire Minor or Lynn then that leaves us with a top 3 of Fried, Minor/Lynn, and Hamels. That isn't going to scare the Dodgers or Yankees but with our lineup and bullpen it might just be enough to compete with teams that good.

Lynn would be a really nice stabilizing pickup

Lynn is also signed through 2021 for just 9.3 million.

Lynn is without question the best choice right now, I'll take Musgrove if he doesn't cost much, the reds could become sellers and they have Bauer who is a FA after the season. Dylan Bundy has also pitched great.

I don't think the Reds will sell. Even with their slow start their still good enough to contend. All their off season moves were made towards contending.
