The old rule was 5 years, but if they made a 1st team All-NBA team you could draft them. Thought it would be easier to just lower it a year and remove that. Rule is to prevent recency bias.

I don't think limiting deserving players prevents recency bias. If a player made an all NBA team or all star games (ie Simmons or Mitchell), they should be eligible. What we could do instead is limit the amount of players drafted in 2010 onwards to 1 of 2 per team?
