I think Chauvin is guilty of murder and I think that will be the verdict. That doesn't mean that "Both the autopsy and the medical examiner ruled it a homicide" ... for one thing one comes from the other's office, and what they do is identify the facts in evidence. "Ruled" is a word generally used by the press interested in making a story more sensational, but is not in the language used by the medical examiner in the autopsy almost certainly (definitely not in the office of the medical examiners press release https://content.govdelivery.com/atta...206.1.2020.pdf).

And absolutely I'm guilty as a pedant.

I'm not deciding what you're thinking, trust me it would be beyond tedious to try to put myself in the headspace of someone who constantly argues with people they agree with (such as right now).

You agree it was a homicide and he will be found guilty. You agree the medical examiner stated the manner of death was homicide, yet you want to get in a pedantic argument over how he phrased everything you agree with.

I can't imagine how exhausting it must be to be you.

that is a valid reason for being pulled over. in this type of situation once pulled over immediately, the driver could have explained the reasoning, and the officer(s) could have agreed.

even if that happens "a lot" (as the articles says), still not surprising for police to come to the conclusion of eluding.

cardboard, so not actual plates. this is common in America?

this from the officer is wrong. even agitated for whatever reason you can't say that.

serving the country is irrelevant, but his refusal to comply still doesn't warrant being pepper sprayed.

if true this is just wrong, and the officer deserves to be fired.
1st bolded, in Canada, you get a piece of paper for your temporary plates.

2nd bolded, as the man stated, you do not have to get out of your vehicle for a traffic stop.

One of the worst things about our justice system is that “common sense” can’t be made into a legal term.

Chauvin kneeled on his neck for 9 minutes or whatever it was. Idk, maybe Floyd’s own drug use made Homs “susceptible” to dying. But independent of that kneeling on the dudes neck as he’s laying there basically half dead and half voiced saying that he can’t breath is just such a gross mismanagement of the situation and done with malicious intent to the point that yeah he deserves to be held accountable. So I don’t want to hear about how if not for the drug use Floyd wouldn’t have died because Chauvins actions were so grossly malicious and obviously intent on inflicting harm.

It’s like me shooting someone and saying I meant to do it in the arm but they moved so it’s not my fault it was fatal.

For someone who doesn't want to put yourself in my headspace you sure seem to tell me what I think a lot.

I have no idea what his intent was, but I can say his actions were not reasonable. And Floyd's drug use don't matter in determining if Chauvin committed murder. The ONLY thing that matters in court is if he committed an assault. If someone dies in the commission of a felony then they are guilty of murder, the cause of death doesn't actually matter. If someone has a heart attack in a store that is being robbed even if the person has no interaction with the people doing the robbery at all they are guilty of murder. The only thing that matters is whether Chauvin's actions were reasonable or not because that determines assault or not ... if it's not reasonable then it's murder (regardless of the health status of the victim).

another black man shot by police, for nothing? wrong.

Duante Wright was shot by police who thought they had the taser. that is incompetence.

one possible solution is for a taser to be physically different to a gun, so that it can not be confused.

this wasn't murder, the officer did intend to use the taser.

    negligence is still an option?

    https://www.cnn.com/2021/04/12/us/br...ing/index.html

A 20-year-old man was fatally shot during a traffic stop after a Minnesota police officer shouted "Taser!" but fired a handgun instead

the other part of this is DW resisted arrest. that deserves to be criticized/called out too.

police said they tried to take the driver into custody after learning during a traffic stop that he had an outstanding warrant. The man got back into his vehicle, and an officer shot him, police said. They said the man drove several blocks before striking another vehicle.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

a person is smart. people are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals.
