Or 0-0 when your team is on the ropes.

I love baseball, it's the first sport I really loved and the statistics that give you so much insight into what's happening is unparalleled really, but there's nothing like soccer. Quick one-touch passing, a perfectly weighted through ball, the team moving like they can read each other's minds, when it flows it's beautiful.

Seven defenders and three attackers, and the defenders not only don't get a touch on the ball, most of them including the keeper are left standing still before the ball is in the back of the net. It's like ****ing art.

are players still kneeling during the anthem?
is the NFL still showing that if they are?
very important questions that would factor in. I don't know the answers to these, or if people are watching against even if they are bothered.. but at the time ratings were low and people expressed why.

    Yup.

Funny, the only sports I follow are baseball and soccer.

The kneeling doesn't continue but the players wearing BLM stickers on their helmets and the end zones say "End Racism" and other Social Justice messaging.

And all those people who said they would never watch again are all watching again.

I'll watch the NFL here and there, but it's pretty rare anymore that I care if I don't see a game until the end. Soccer is just more fun, and the odds of seeing someone need to be stretchered off because their head was just caved in are so much lower.

I follow mostly the Premier and Championship Leagues. Not much into the MLS.

Baseball will always be my favorite. Sadly, the baseball threads here are not all that worthwhile. I don’t know, maybe I should try them again.

Yeah, I'll try to support the new St. Louis MLS team because I think it'll be fun to go to the games, but they're just not remotely on the same technical or tactical level. Maybe eventually, but it's still a ways off.

Have you watched Sunderland Til I Die on Netflix?

These days, they generally are not worthwhile to any degree (unless you want to see brett05 make an absolute fool of himself via a topic other than politics). Would be nice if that was different. There used to be some decent back and forth in the MLB forum.

Speaking of baseball, are you all aware of the Mike Trout drawings happening in r/baseball? A guy decided to draw Mike Trout every day until the lockout ends.

    It started out pretty rough.

By day 5 he was clearly improving, but things were still pretty normal.

Things took a turn in an unexpected direction on day 8.

    And now...

    Well.

It's turned into something that people that don't even care about baseball are looking for every day.

    It's worth checking out.

Yeah, I'm aware. Doesn't do a thing for me. Maybe because I already saw someone do something similar with Brandon Belt during the '21 season.

Now Mississippi can’t teach their own history. They can’t explain why they have such a high black population.

I don't have a problem with that, that could have been done long ago.

there were a lot of people that felt offended against the kneeling during the anthem that they felt was disrespectful.

whether they now changed their mind doesn't change what they thought then.

Yep. I lost a lot of interest in professional sports over-all and one of the reasons is the amount of publicity that the various leagues give to people like Kaep, BLM, and other racist and socialist causes that have gotten adopted by the leagues and their leaders.

Meanwhile the English Premier League, where players are still kneeling before every game, has 3.2 billion people watching it around the world.
