But what is it? The utility of wearing masks is quite high versus the nonexistent negative implications. Seems like a no brainer.....to anyone with a brain

Local decisions on opening capacities make more sense. Masks make none

You're a hero. Let me know when you start getting that keeping the economy going snatch

That's why the J&J one shot vaccine has become important but they've only produced 20 million doses of that so far.

IMO local control should be the norm, not the exception

There's only 330 million people in the US to begin with. Where are they going then? Are they lying to you?

So why hasn't Biden made masks a national mandate?

My guess is political backlash. Do you have an answer?

This is the thing that bothers me about it.

It is SO cheap and SO effective at controlling spread and such MINIMUM downside. Slight discomfort. Isnt that just stupid no brainer worth controlling spread and saving the economy and saving lives?

Its just so bizarre that people oppose this. Such a minimal downside and such a major upside, it really is a no brainer.

This isn't strictly a trump thing, the entire country should have had masks since last February. It would have saved us trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives.

That's probably a major factor. So that is an upside to more local control. Liberty has value. "No taxation without representation" is about local control ... it wasn't that they didn't want taxes, but they wanted a say in things.

The closer the government setting the rules is to the people being ruled the more their decisions reflect the needs of the people.
