While the research is very much in the preliminary stages and much more needs to be done, nonetheless Boris Johson issued a potentially grim observation: “In addition to spreading more quickly," Johnson said during a news conference, "it also now appears that there is some evidence that the new variant that was first identified in London … may be associated with a higher degree of mortality."

I like the distributing of the held back vaccines, but it does mean twice as many people get locked in to that vaccine it seems. But more people half vaccinated seems an easy win.

I saw some medical discussion that giving twice as many people half of the first dose would probably be a good move but that would require another round of testing.

Johnson & Johnson is talking about submitting their vaccine for emergency use to the FDA within weeks so hopefully its effective and approved. I am sure it will.

I think some other countries were doing that, but the FDA isn't allowing it because it would need a new testing cycle.
