Yes it is. We have to get back to the old life and not be freaking out about a virus that you have a 99.7% chance of surviving

What % chance would a virus need to have for us to not continue on as normal? I want to know for future reference.

We could also do normal things close to normal if everyone would just wear a mask and socially distance while they do things. Lots of people have proved incapable of that.

When the solution is just not being a lazy dipshit, thats preferable to letting people die.

Amongst a sample of 300 million people, that is a horrible number.

It's not a number or a percentage. It's a matter of party in charge. There were 12,000 deaths from H1N1 and an estimated 60,000,000 cases. Compare that with the numbers for COVID and the deadliest disease is clear. But the GOP acts like H1N1 was Biden's Watergate but thinks that COVID is just a normal seasonal flu.

I posted this on another thread, but it is appropriate here as well.

Our experience with this virus is still in the early stages, and while calls for things like a “herd immunity” approach are proliferating, there are reasons to remain cautious.

    — We still do not know how long immunity lasts. Seems like an important piece of information to me.

    — There are reports of significant long-term effects, some neurological, some vascular (may be related): https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/11/h...7660ea25319dc3

—Sweden’s so-called “success” is not necessarily all that it is cracked up to be (in fact, the ceremony at the White House for Judge Barrett would have been illegal in Sweden).

wouldn't or shouldn't it be more about a trusted vaccine that would help prevent people from even getting Covid19.

People do too often think...well, if I'm not in a high risk group, why should I be worried about getting it?

I know of a nurse and a doctor (different states) who both got it in April/May. While their bout wasn't seemingly serious, both self-quarantined at home for 2 weeks, and they came back to work, both have continuing residual issues. They're both in good health and around 40 years old, yet the nurse is still months later having some respiratory issues she'd never had prior and the doctor is continuously fighting fatigue even though he's actually working less and sleeping more than before he got it.

So to all those who think what's the big deal...or even 'I only wear a mask so I don't have to argue about it'...well, death isn't the only reason to prefer to not get it.

Didn’t realize the number of Covid cases in the US had gone up to over 366 million people. That’s quite the jump.

lol, I was wondering the same thing.

I was confused, cuz his number looks good, I though the death rate was basically approaching 0.04% from what I read. But I did a little math in my head too and it wasn't seeming to add up..

Yeah, just take the amount of people who have died, round it down to 0.06% and assume that everyone in the country has had it, ignore that many who have recovered are having issues months later, and you get a super low number to throw around. See, it’s not that serious.
