Actually people have said it’s when the vaccines are administered and not when they are shipped.

You’re right it was never supposed to go on this long, but then again, half a million people weren’t supposed to die. Usually plans change when people start dying by the hundreds of thousands.

The vaccine IS good enough. It just takes a while to reach herd immunity. It's not like you reach herd immunity the moment the first person is vaccinated, lol.

What's the harm in having a mask mandate for another two months when most if not all the people who want to get vaccinated, can?
    "Fully vaccinated"

That's gonna be your go to word the rest of the way. For starters you have to wait awhile between shots. But the real kicker is... a whole lot of people are turning down the second shot.

Methinks you are simply clueless and too full of yourself to realize that what's going on in your neck of the woods doesn't define what is going on in the rest of the country.

Yes because the first shot only gives you a partial immunity to the virus. Completing the vaccine in its totality is what significantly protects you from COVID. 94-95% in countries they've done studies in like Israel.

People are stupid. That's why its good J&J created a one shot vaccine. Limits the logistics of distribution/administration, people get one dose towards immunity, and it completes the process of vaccinating against the virus quicker.

What percentage of the population needs to be vaccinated to satisfy your criteria for reopening? Just curios.

I feel you can reopen now. A 100%? Probably not.

Not when so few people have received both doses of the predominant vaccines that are out there. If J&J can amp up production, May seems like a good time frame. At that point most of the people who want to be vaccinated will be and the coronavirus doesn't seem to have the same legs in spring and summer.

The experts seem to be saying that 70-95% of the population will need to be either vaccinated or already infected and recovered for us to reach herd immunity. Not to say that's the amount needed to begin loosening up restrictions (which is already happening in much of the country) but it is an important statistic to keep an eye on.

We probably need about 70% of people to have immunity to reach that.

Already a lot of people have immunity from catching it..we have reported 30 million cases. Estimates have said the true number can be 3 to 6 times that number, so we looking at possibly 100 million to 150 million (this is super rough by the way, spliff. Just nipping it in the bud) already have immunity just through the spread.

Out of 350 million people we want a total of roughly 70%, so about 250 million, with immunity.

If we already have 100 to 150million individuals with immunity through spread, then we would want to vaccinate another 100 to 150 million people to start approaching that herd immunity number.

This is all theory, this stuff needs to be tracked in real time and adjustments made accordingly. There's a lot we dont know about this virus, we are just guessing this based off of past virus and pandemics.

Stop pretending you’re only now advocating for a full re-opening now that we have a vaccine. You were advocating Ivan Drago’s “if they die, they die” strategy since the beginning.

I think it’s time to start re-opening in phases, as the population gets more and more vaccinated. But I think Gov. Abbott’s decision is a tad premature. But that being said, if he’s adamant about re-opening we should be re-directing vaccines to Texas to get as many Texans vaccinated as possible to minimize casualties.

Why not? Almost 100% have it for the flu.

It just takes a couple seasons for these things to make their way through a population.

I wasn't. Back to old habits I see. Putting words into people's mouths so you kinda have a leg to stand on in a debate.

1 in 3 people flat out say they won't get the vaccine. Then you have the people that will say the right thing but won't actually get it. Then you have the people that just won't get around to getting it. Finally you have the people who never go get the second shot which means they don't satisfy the "fully vaccinated" criteria.

The goalposts have officially been moved to an unattainable location. Lockdown Forever.
